He's nearly taken Lindelof's face off there. He was pretty “assertive” but I’d argue Lindelof has to be stronger, it was a pretty weak challenge. Our problem is that, after scoring, we did our usual band just fell back to defending. Unsurprisingly, they equalise - terrific finish- and so we decide to attack again. Our defence is not strong enough to defend for 88 minutes, we have to adopt the old maxim “attack is the best form of defence”. We’ll probably still lose but we won’t die for the want of trying RE: WBA vs Man Utd - Match Thread - hibeejim21 - 14-02-2021 Big Spam looks like he just woke up from a coma there ![]() That was the big chance.....How did he xxxx that up ? RE: WBA vs Man Utd - Match Thread - Baggie_One - 14-02-2021 That was the chance Never heard the word mauled so many times Jeeeees, another chance RE: WBA vs Man Utd - Match Thread - Ska'dForLife-WBA - 14-02-2021 Deserved at least a point out of that, and glad we held on for it when things were looking a bit hairy at the death. But those gilt-edged chances had to hit the back of the net for our season to stand any hope of changing course. As it is, we've just kept a bit of pride intact, which is about the most I really hoped for. When we play more on the front foot we’re a different team, we just need to try to do that for the whole game, not just in small bursts or when we’ve conceded. RE: WBA vs Man Utd - Match Thread - Slick_Footwork - 14-02-2021 I thought today was probably our best performance of the season so far. Despite having to do plenty of rear guard action, our defence didn't look as exposed as it has done typically this season. In addition to that, we carried a real threat on the break and looked capable of scoring. Despite United having most of the ball, we probably made the better chances. As well as Diagne's two chances he missed, we also had the Pereira shot that he dragged wide and the Snodgrass header. I expected a much better performance with Yokuslu sitting and I think we got that. It will probably go unnoticed, but he won the header which lead to our goal. Also provided real help for the full backs, twice dealing with Rashford after he beat Connor Townsend. No surprise that his inclusion made out full backs look much more accomplished. Simple things for someone in that position, but simple things we have been missing all season. My only gripe was that we were just getting pushed too deep first half when United were on the hunt for the equaliser. The players need to be brave enough to push 5-10 yards higher even when we are under the cosh. But to be fair to our defenders, there wasn't a lot they could do about the goal with Fernandes able to take on the volley that was behind him. There are not many players with the quality to score that. Now 4 big games against Burnley, Brighton, Newcastle and Palace. We can at least go into the games with a bit of confidence after today. RE: WBA vs Man Utd - Match Thread - Stairs - 14-02-2021 4 big games against Burnley, Brighton, Newcastle and Palace. And we need to win them all and hope others lose 4 on the bounce. RE: WBA vs Man Utd - Match Thread - Baggiebob(BBB) - 14-02-2021 Well done lads, a much better performance with the new lads, although it was a pity we didn't take our chances to win the game. 1-1 is another point to safety ![]() RE: WBA vs Man Utd - Match Thread - Dingle-Dingle - 14-02-2021 (14-02-2021, 19:18)Baggiebob(BBB) Wrote: Well done lads, a much better performance with the new lads, although it was a pity we didn't take our chances to win the game. 1-1 is another point to safety It`s another point towards beating Direby`s low tally, but 2 points shorter of safety....... But the one we’re chancing is Vile’s total of 17. ![]() |
