Enjoy it!
There's only one distillery this far up. Wolfburn I believe it is. Tastes like sucking a Pete bog, not for me but from here all the distilleries are southward.
Ten minutes drive north is the coast, end of the island completely.

The 500:is starting to pick up traffic though. White rectangles (Caravans) litter the landscape lol
You'll not get scenery like this down in England though

RE: Thread For Anything But Football - Maddix - 20-04-2023

There's plenty of distilleries just north of Inverness on the way up Thumb up Balblair & Dalmore definitely on the list Thumb up

RE: Thread For Anything But Football - Statesideowl - 20-04-2023

2hrs south east to Inverness from here.
Dalmore is nice, I had their cigar malt a few years back. The bottle wasn't around for long!

RE: Thread For Anything But Football - Maddix - 20-04-2023

Trying to get the wife to fly (she hates it) to Inverness and hire a car from there to cut 7 hours each way off the driving time Confused

I'd prefer the half hour to Leeds/Bradford or Manchester and 45 minute flight to Inverness especially as she doesn't drive anyway Cool

RE: Thread For Anything But Football - Statesideowl - 21-04-2023

Might have to drug her Milk like B.A Barakas!

Flights are sometimes less than 100 each and you can pick up a rental car in Inverness, as I'm sure you know.
The drive up isn't a lot of fun. Glasgow is a shit hole that you need to drive around as quickly as possible.

That's what I keep telling her SS Doh instead we have to make a week into 10 days by doing stopovers on the way there and on the way home Doh

30 quid for a breakfast at Tebay services, 120-150 for the overnight stay near Stirling, 30 quid for lunch near Pitlochry, hotel at Inverness, another 120-150. Add on the petrol and then repeat/reverse on the way home Whistle It's a no-brainer for me Confused all that extra whisky I could buy Cool and I wouldn't be so sh'agged out at the end of it Thumb up

F'ucking women are more trouble than Wednesday Laugh

RE: Thread For Anything But Football - Statesideowl - 22-04-2023

That's one issue I don't have these days.
Wednesday is finishing me off quickly enough as it is!!

The cost of basics at the moment is ludicrous. Then 'luxury' items such as tea and cake will break your back in most places.
Even more so up here as it's all to sting the tourists on the 500.

RE: Thread For Anything But Football - Statesideowl - 27-04-2023

Try to stay away from petrol stations on the 500 too, Maddix.
They're currently charging £1.85 per litre. Just a short drive off the route itself there's rural places like where I live; it's less at £1.35
They're gouging folk to death as if billions in profit isn't enough Laugh
