Regarding Jackson at Charlton - there's likely good reasons why club legends shouldn't take on the managers job even if it seems a good idea at the time.

Even if they are a success for a season or two, ultimately the club loses (or more often than not fires) someone with the club name and DNA written through them like a stick of Bollackpool rock. The other reason is, the board expects them to work miracles as a result of their status at the club whilst the tight wads sit on their collective wallets.

This fella

was arguably their most successful manager. When he bailed from West Ham after Charlton he never really entertained another job for long in football.

Interesting website - https://salarysport.com/

Note that whilst clubs/teams might be "reasonably" up to date, the Highest Earners (in any particular division) links are typically for 2020.

Also some clubs are in let's say "strange" divisions. Whoever set this up doesn't seem to do promotion and relegation (often).

After collecting his CBE at Buck House, Woy Hodgson has announced he will stay with Watfowd to the end of the season but he won't put himself forwawd fow any mowe Pwima Donna League jobs, so that's not quite a full wetiwement decision is it?. He might still go for a lowew league job to win anothew pwomotion medal. Chawlton?
