Can't believe nobody's mentioned Dick Kwy...Kryyz...Krzywicki.....ok, now I understand. Obviously he was Welsh.

D Krzetc was apparently our first ever substitute. And I got to meet Derek Kevan when he worked as a steward at Handsworth Golf Club (mid 90s?). Nice guy.

Since the requirements have changed and history books are out and we must as individuals have seen them play:-

Derek Kevan (aka The Tank)

He was probably coming to the end of his career with Albion by the time I started watching the Baggies.
I remember that Derek had a fearsome shot on him but, if he ran one on one against the opposition goalkeeper, the ball was more likely to finish up in the Birmingham Road than the net.
One of his goals I remember was in a game against Chelsea when their goalkeeper was Peter Bonetti.
Our left wing had the ball (Chippy?) and moved just inside Chelsea's half. Derek was more central perhaps 10 yards inside the half and the only Albion man upfield.
He called for the ball and the winger didn't so much pass it to him as blasted it straight at him; the ball never touching the turf and being at no more than shin height.
Derek just hit it on the volley and the ball streaked into the net from 40 yards out. So fast did this happen that I could swear that Bonetti was still looking at the winger when the ball went past him.

Another:-  Graham Lovett who had major injuries following car crashes but came back to be selected (controversy) for the 1968 FA Cup Final

And finally two more that I DID see play:-
John Kaye and Joe Kennedy.

The Brummie Road used to sing

Krizi-wicki Krizi-wicki Krizi-wicki Krizi-wicki

(to the tune of Hari Krishna)

He was a decent right-winger bought to dash to the bye-line and hang one up for Jeff, late 60s. Jeff duly did the rest!

RE: Pointless - this week M - talkSAFT - 06-08-2017

Last week there were some pretty obscure ones, thanks to Vic, Bierzo, DD, Kenny and Beef.

This Week WBA players past & present whose surnames begin with M:

Don't forget:  you must have seen him play (just to exclude 19th Century etc players who are of no real interest to most) and, just for interest and debate, add a few notes about the player.

Like the TV gameshow Pointless, aim for the most obscure players you can remember, and no peeking at WBA History books.

(Bridgwater has already named a decent contender, in the Transfer thread:  David 'Gladys' Mills who must have nearly broke the Bank - or did we spend our Pop Robson/Moses money on him? Shame he turned out to be a big disappointment in the late 70s)

RE: Pointless - this week M - silverbaggie - 06-08-2017

Mick Martin (the forgotten man of the 64 FA Cup final)
Paddy Mulligan
Joe Mayo
Tony Millington (whatever happened to him- apart from letting in loads of goals against the Wolves)
Remi Moses (lost to Man Ure along with Robbo)

RE: Pointless - this week M - Worldclassalbion - 06-08-2017

Shergill McDonald, one time striker, bit cack

RE: Pointless - this week M - Beefy 1965 - 07-08-2017

Sherjill MacDonald actually first class didn't he end up at Hereford or somewhere obscure ?
A player who I really liked was Steve MacKenzie, Super Mac
He lives round by me and someone mentioned he was very ill or something a few weeks ago not sure how true that is I will try and find out,
Who could forget Ish Miller scores a Regis like goal on debut
Then of course our New Manager elect Derek McInnes
And Bernard Mcnally
But what about our real find had him for a few months then transferred him off to Juventus for a whooping profit
I give you Enso Maresca

Give me the Champions title now Saft !!!!!!

RE: Pointless - this week M - Bierzo Baggie - 07-08-2017

Derek Monaghan
Forward who seemed to be at the club for years but rarely played. Had potential but loads of injury problems I think. Scored a rare winning goal against Arsenal.

RE: Pointless - this week M - Dingle-Dingle - 07-08-2017

Juan Carlos Menseguez 2009. Scored on debut.

Simon Miotto Goalkeeper. 04/05 Dont think he ever played for the 1st team. Wrote coloumn inches in matchday programmes though.

Williams Guillermo Martínez Fracchia (Williams Martínez) 2 Apps. 1 Goal 1 penalty conceeded.

DD Angry Angry

RE: Pointless - this week M - Kennyg - 07-08-2017

Steve MacKenzie. A quality midfielder who I believe we signed from Manchester City.
Another midfielder who always gave 100% was Bernie McNally.
Finally a great goal keeper who I felt was under-rated - Alan Miller.
