RE: European Union Referendum - In or Out?? - 0762 - 11-12-2020 Listening to another Tory Brexit twit named Bill Cash on the bbc saying, quote - "In Johnson's book he refers to Churchill and would now think what would Churchill do in this position"? Then this shameless prick remarks that Churchill's guiding force/view re the evolution of Europe would be that democracy and freedom is the bedrock of how our system functions in the UK - the touchstone on which WC would've made his decision to leave the EU. From a Scottish point of view, I'd love to print and post a leaflet of these hypocritical comments to every Scottish family and citizen in order to expose the sheer impudence and difference between devolved countries within the UK and the interpretation of true democratic values and a proper constitution!!! Picking and choosing these values as well as "lying through your teeth" is not allowed in this case!! We need to finally "swing" another significant chunk of our Scot populace to finally "see through" the lies and utter disrespect that these shameless bastards display almost on a daily basis. One reference that is so f###### irritating from these c##### is this vision of independence and sovereignty - AYE! FOR LITTLE ENGLANDERS WITH A HATFUL OF ANGST AND HATE IN THEIR NARRATIVE!! IT NEVER CHANGES BUT THEY WILL SOON BE IN A MINORITY POSITION!! RE: European Union Referendum - In or Out?? - hibeejim21 - 11-12-2020 If we want preferential access to the single market you have to go with the EU terms, they are not asking for anything that the USA wouldn't ask for in any deal. Agreements all have a basis to deal with possible competitive advantages, thats the way it's gonna work whatever. Boris has a chance to at least try and save something for his country or he can throw us all down the chute to please Farage and the ERG. I suspect he will be gone quite soon anyway so it may well be the latter after all. Europes been ready for a while now, for instance the dutch have hired and trained 1000 new customs staff. The UK is nowhere near ready. RE: European Union Referendum - In or Out?? - ritchiebaby - 11-12-2020 See the lorry park on the approaches to Dover this morning - and that's before Brexit. It's of no consolation whatsoever that the same will soon be happening on the Calais side as well. Boris' new vision of an Australia-type deal is one that even the Australians are trying to change. And it's taken them 2 years of negotiations with no great progress. RE: European Union Referendum - In or Out?? - hibeejim21 - 11-12-2020 There is no "Australia type deal" Ritchie. It's been completely debunked by an ex Australian PM who pointed out exactly what it does involve., they have numerous sector type agreements which works fine as they are on the other side of the planet. It's a straight up 'no deal' WTO terms job. RE: European Union Referendum - In or Out?? - 0762 - 11-12-2020 Yep! And why is it that way? Because the UK is a competitor on the EU's "doorstep" and a member that has opted to stupidly leave the EU! RE: European Union Referendum - In or Out?? - hibeejim21 - 11-12-2020 What no one seems to be asking is why do the government not want to align themselves with some pretty basic standards and regulations concerning workers rights, medical cover, environmental and food standards etc etc....you know why wouldn't they want that for us ? It's not like its paradise in Europe but citizens and workers have certain protections. Why do they want to remove those from the UK ? Well I'm sure we can guess. The way things are going the UK is going to have a lot of mackerel and flounder available cheap ![]() ![]() RE: European Union Referendum - In or Out?? - ritchiebaby - 11-12-2020 I'm not sure that the fishing issue will go away in the event of No Deal. I hadn't realised until a week or so ago that the English fishing quota is almost half owned by EU businesses. Unlike Scotland, where the vast majority of the quota is Scottish owned. Surely Boris can't expect the EU owners to allow the UK to exclude them from catching their legally agreed percentage of "British fish". Another field day for the lawyers to look forward to. RE: European Union Referendum - In or Out?? - 0762 - 11-12-2020 I firmly believe this has all been contrived since the attempted proroguing of parliament last year! There is so much RW politics attached to this! Where does one start? The centralisation of power by the British state? A group of RW Tory fanatics who wanna see their power base in London and diluting our laws etc to suit them i.e. huge power to a majority Tory govt bordering on totalitarianism. I suggest to anyone who doubts that assertion please look up Lord Hailsham's historical pre-Thatcher era comment of 1976 when he warned of the time eventually coming of a British govt "morphing" into an "elective dictatorship". I say, "We are living through Hailsham's nightmare", compliments of a naive English electorate that has been duped BIG TIME by the fascists!! How very Trump-like in its application!! This stark warning has to be taken seriously by the political classes and everyone in the UK. The Tories, aided by Brexit, and taking entirely the wrong lessons from their incompetence over COVID-19, don't want to share political power on these islands. They believe in one political centre and authority - the leviathan or shibboleth of parliamentary sovereignty and rowing back the semi-codification of the unwritten constitution Brit constitution through 47 years of EU membership. This is about real decisions by UK minsters affecting us all and taken back from the EU, decisions with no scrutiny and with wide powers to rewrite regs on various contributing industries such as agriculture and medicine - something the Johnson (Trump sic) govt sees as a huge positive. In Scotland's case the Tory chat of "UK change" with "more powers for Scotland" is bullshit - all evidence tellsme that regressive change is coming. I could go on but that is just a "flavour" of what these Brexit bastards are "up to"!!! I'm sure, like me, lotsa decent Scot citizens, Scot indy campaigners and others are preparing and getting ready for this assault on our democratic values where so called "Unionism-Nationalism" will be foisted upon us again - not the first time as the previous attempt was an abject failure that didn't impress a politically aware population up here. RE: European Union Referendum - In or Out?? - hibeejim21 - 11-12-2020 (11-12-2020, 17:02)ritchiebaby Wrote: I'm not sure that the fishing issue will go away in the event of No Deal. Yup, they sold the quotas off in the 80s. Thing is It wont be the lawyers we will need to worry about, it will be the EU fisherman starting to blockade ports. You watch the outrage when Harold Gammon is seriously inconvenienced on his way to his French holiday home. The UK is no longer a serious country, epitomised by Boris cutting about Europes capitals for negotiations looking like he has spent the night in a skip.....in someone else's suit. RE: European Union Referendum - In or Out?? - ritchiebaby - 11-12-2020 Boris actually looks as though he has spent the night in a German brothel, proving that once again he's just not up to the job. Not that I know anything about German brothels of course. ![]() ![]() |
