Quite impressed so far. It's great going into a tournament with zero expectations
The proof will be in the pudding against Belgium if both sides play strong line ups 
In the past we'd have struggled against the teams we've beat and would have drawn against Tunisia and had a scabby 2-1 against Panama. And don't forget the ref before you say we did struggle against Tunisia 
I'm not really bothered which side of the draw we end up in because the way it's going we won't be meeting the teams we expected anyway and some of the team we would normally fancy our chances against are playing better than the usual suspects. And as they old adage says, you've got to beat them at some point

not true maddix how this is shaping out we could miss all the favourites Germany Brazil and France and have an easy passage through becoming second in the group .. because its nailed on the gerrys will scrape through in second place !

It's actually making the game worse
we now have imaginary TV's as well as cards being waved by the cast players It's a shambles and the sad thing is, is that someone is going to win the world cup based on these decisions. There's no way on earth that, as much as I dislike Portugal, was a penalty to Iran And yes, I would want a penalty to us for the Porko one too. Ronaldo was clearly taken out in the box and it doesn't matter what the scouse/irishman from Preston thinks because he's still got his Liverpool v Manure glasses on

The penalty for Portugal was nailed on, and thats what VAR is for, correcting or being able to get the decision right. The problem with Iran's penalty was it is still a decision that is debatable, would still be a 50/50 in most refs minds, and in that case unless it is clear then the refs decision at the time should stand. I think VAR has done ok on the whole though, they have been able to get most decisions quickly, need to make sure that is the case on all of them.

It doesn't help when you get biased wankers like Lawrenson commentating either. Most of the UK audience will be convinced that Ronaldo was cheating based on the comments of one bitter and twisted ex Liverpool player against what he perceives is the enemy because he once played for Manchester United
Perhaps we should have VAR in the pundit box and be able to vote them out

Well I get a different group of pundits and to be fair most of them are not as biased towards or against any team or player and the fact the USA are not in it then have no horse in the race as such.

It's about time that we should be able to watch a game without commentary and just the crowd noise. We don't need all these pundits and commentators telling us what we can already see. That would be a step forward IMO

Because the US are not in it and they have a big potential Hispanic audience I think they have been a bit biased towards Mexico and also the 'superstars' of Messi, Neymar and Ronaldo.
That said, all the true Hispanic fans will be watching Mexico in Spanish on Telemundo etc and not listening to Alexi and rules guru Dr Mike on Fox or FS1 and FS2.
