RE: Match Thread - SWFC v Preston - Jacko The Flopsy Piglet - 04-10-2015 Agree with most of the posts on here. Thought we had the game in the bag at 2-0 despite not playing great for most of the first half. Our former strikers looked very poor and the game changed when they were replaced but also when Nuhiu went off and we lost the focal point up front. Forestieri tired and Joao was left a bit isolated as the midfield got pushed further back by Preston putting the ball up front to the big men they'd brought on and getting plenty of crosses in. Was a bit worried that my prediction of a late equaliser might come true but, in truth, we coped quite well and should have finished the game on the counter earlier than we did. At least this season is entertaining which is more than can be said for most of last season. P.S. If Preston want to stay up they need a much better centre half. Clarke let Nuhiu beat him time and again in the first half and let the ball bounce for the first goal and then let Kieran Lee beat him in the air for the loose ball. Lee then fed the ball to Forestieri and kept running, untracked, to latch onto Forestieri's lovely flick finish coolly. RE: Match Thread - SWFC v Preston - Statesideowl - 04-10-2015 Incredibly tough run of fixtures, I'd be happy with 3-5 points from those League games. RE: Match Thread - SWFC v Preston - consilio - 04-10-2015 We need more than 3-5 if we have promotion in mind. Charlton and Rotherham away aren't the most difficult of away trips. Hull, Forest and Brighton at home we should be looking to win at least two of those. QPR away looks the toughest. We need 10+ points from the six games. Looks like we might have to field the B side against the Gooners. RE: Match Thread - SWFC v Preston - Thurnscoe_OWL - 04-10-2015 I'd go "2nd" string v QPR/Rotherham and reasonably strong v Arsenal RE: Match Thread - SWFC v Preston - Maddix - 04-10-2015 The only one I'm truly worried about is Forest ![]() ![]() CC just has to pick the right 'horses for the courses', lots of pace for the counter attack and two defensive midfielders away and Big Dave to batter the opposition for an hour at home ![]() and we could do with Hunt learning how to defend over the break ![]() RE: Match Thread - SWFC v Preston - Washington - 04-10-2015 Hopefully the gooners won't be trying quite as hard as they currently doing against manure ! Having a good fantasy football weekend so far with aguero and Sanchez as my forwards !! I'm not sure we're actually chasing promotion though. Unless we achieve it by chance this season. I would be happy with 3-5pts from the three, Hull , QPR and Brighton. Forest, as Maddix said is always a potential banana skin for us. Though I do think we should win away to Rovrum & Charlton Definitely field the B team against Rovrum, if it can beat Newcastle it can do the job against them. RE: Match Thread - SWFC v Preston - Jacko The Flopsy Piglet - 04-10-2015 I'm trying not to get too far ahead of ourselves yet. I know it's cliche but the next game is the most important. Try and get a good result against Hull and move on to the next one. Look at the Arsenal game as the one off that it is when we get to it. That is worth £100m. The LC is a sideshow that is a fun diversion but our future will be defined by how quickly we get promoted. CC will be aware of the priorities even if some of the fans are not. We have seven matches in 22 days and six of those matches are very important; one is not and that is Arsenal, which is why I have little doubt that CC will go with a shadow team as he has in each round. To that end we should "concentrate on the league" and keep the messing about for the cups. Put out a weaker side against Rovrum and you invite them to have a go, don't forget it's their cup final, and experience should tell us that any team can beat any other in this division! Even CC has figured that out; "This is the Championship, the teams all the time believe they can change the score." |
