Fair play, Salop, it's not exactly a seething cauldron of excitement, is it?
Partly the hangover from the friendlies, though I can't ever remember us having a triumphant pre-season so that shouldn't really affect us.
Also. I can't quite believe that the season starts yet. I'll probably wake up around the beginning of September.
Let's hope the lads jerk us into life with a resounding win today. (But they won't.)

Can't quite explain it, Salop, but my interest has dropped a fair bit in recent times. I love the Baggies still after living too far away (Cornwall) to get to see them. But interest in Football generally has really dwindled thanks to Sky, who have ruined The Game!
Now I couldn't tell you most of the Villa team (for example), although I could name their team from 60 years ago - and it's almost as bad with the Albion team! Players come and are gone before I could recognise them in the pub!
The Euros, then the Cricket, then the Olympics, have taken the Summer up, and I can't believe our Season is starting already!
Haven't got a clue what our best team is, but I wish I could be there at every match.

Well the lads did us proud today. Am away win against a fancied side for promotion. Made a few sit up and take notice. Always a surprise team every season maybe just maybe it's our turn.

I'm a great believer in the word "team" (in the sporting sense).
25 or so years ago, at Cheltenham, Steve Cotterill took charge of a hugely under performing club in the 2nd tier of non league football. He recruited players that, technically, maybe, weren't the best, but had the character and commitment needed. I'm not saying they were bad players, but their common characteristic was commitment.
2 years later, they were a Football League team for the first time in their history.
I see similarities here with us in that players coming in have got to be hungry, have a desire, and have a team ethos rather than a personal ego

Sounds like a great acquisition. Sure I read he once had a 92 million pound release clause. Still need a regular goal scorer and some back up squad players.

I have been watching some footage of this Uros Racic and he looks a good player, if he can match up to what appears to be a faster pace in the Championship, I think he will be a good replacement for Okay. Though I am not so sure he will get away with some of his turns and tricks against Championship quality players, but time will tell, in the meantime welcome to the club Uros

Callum Styles look very likely to happen. If we get him and Keane it has been a very good window.
Racic seems match fit and so could feature v Swansea and I would expect both of the above to be in the same position - just club tactics to brush up on before getting into the squad.
If all that happens and then Dike can survive a full season when he gets back it will be a very interesting season.

Saw a fair bit of Racic for Valencia and if he's still the same player he was then, he will be a very good acquisition.
Big, strong, tackles, good passer. As good a replacement for Okay as we could wish for. Shame they couldn't play together, would've been a hell of a midfield platform at this level.
Could do with a few reinforcements in attacking areas now. I think we're short of a creative midfielder and winger who can link up, the Johnston replacement.
