RE: 2014 Transfer Window: (Jan 10) Troy Deeney - Ska'dForLife-WBA - 10-01-2015 Today really summed up the problem with Ideye. His movement and positioning remains good, but he's clearly not a target man who can play with his back to goal and bring the midfield into the game (if that's why he was signed, then it's a shocker from scouting/recruitment) and so he has to have a nose for goal to be valuable to the team. Unfortunately, that one-on-one he blew suggests that his goal-nose is somewhere far, far from West Bromwich. You can put it down to confidence, but how long can we persevere playing a man who doesn't score and doesn't really bring anything else to the game in the hope that his confidence will improve? I've argued he deserves a fair chance under Pulis, and I stick by that, but today another of his nine lives came and went. The main difference is Deeney was in a fight with another man. Evans (theoretically) forced a woman into sex, and men are stronger than women, so a 'normal' rape case would be worse than Deeney's actions. I thought Ideye wasn't too bad with his back to goal as he works a lot and can chest the ball down and lay it off. He is lacking a bit aerially though. Best to put this on any other business thread. Haaha. RE: 2014 Transfer Window: (Jan 10) Demba Ba & Troy Deeney - Stairs - 11-01-2015 Demba Ba the latest link. Think the papers suspect we might be looking for a striker RE: 2014 Transfer Window: (Jan 10) Demba Ba & Troy Deeney - HarryJAllstarWBA - 11-01-2015 http://fw.to/SVExUPM Jamie vardy RE: 2014 Transfer Window: (Jan 10) Demba Ba & Troy Deeney - Bournemouth Baggie - 11-01-2015 Tony Pulis saying strikers not leaving and in fact looking to strengthen RE: 2014 Transfer Window: (Jan 10) Demba Ba & Troy Deeney - Beefy 1965 - 11-01-2015 baggie96,........ westbrom.com However what I'm hearing is 3 players in, 2 minimum. A striker who's big and strong, ie ba or deeney and 2 fast wingers. Tony wants sess in the middle. Lennon could happen and maybe someone from championship as the second winger. Berahino could sign a new contract worth 50k/week after his court case. We won't sell him this window unless 30 mill+ bid comes in and after that it suits him to sign a new contract. Expecting ideye out on loan to French/Russian team with blanco and dorrans maybe going. Ba and Lennon are proven at this level. Ba would chip in with the goals that we need and be a great foil for Saido. Deeney would be a risk, but the other 2 are pretty much guaranteed improvements. Would be unfortunate to see Blanco go without seeing more of him, but he's obviously not favoured and wasn't overly impressive against lower league sides in the cup. If it meant making space in the squad for Lennon, i'd get over it. Dorrans isn't Prem class anymore. He's a shadow of the player that he was under Di Matteo. While he's obviously a good trainer, apart from Burnley at home, I can't think of a good performance this season and he's played a lot. Ideye doesn't look anywhere near Prem class. He 'might' come good in time, but you need to hit the ground running at this level and he's showing little in the way of progress. The thing about the Premier League is that it's frantic and you don't get much time on the ball and he simply doesn't look technically good enough to copy with that. If you're a strong bustler, maybe you can get away with having the touch of a rapist, but he looks weak too. I guess in a league where you have a bit more time, with his movement, his lack of touch is compensated for. I'd love for Ideye to come good, but I don't think we can keep carrying a passenger in the hope that he's going to develop into a Premiership footballer. Because of that, would be happy to see him go if he was freeing up wager to sign Ba. He could be a good signing. Problem with any deal though is that it relies on Leicester pulling off two other deals which may not be done until late in the window. I suspect if either were to fall through then Vardy would not be released. Leaving us in the proverbial and having to make do with whoever was still available at the last minute. |
