RE: Match Thread - SWFC v Reading - consilio - 20-08-2015 Semedo cannot replace Hutch and play as a deep lying playmaker. He hasn't got the range of passing and it's not his game. RE: Match Thread - SWFC v Reading - Owlkev71 - 20-08-2015 Its nice having the play-makers but you need someone in their who can put a tackle in, Hutch is a yellow/red card waiting to happen still. RE: Match Thread - SWFC v Reading - Statesideowl - 20-08-2015 Some great reviews and points to read this morning with my Coffee ( milk went rancid so no tea ![]() From the radio feed it sounded as if our midfield were non-existent for both Ipswich & Reading games. I didn't hear Mcgugans name until he was substituted. As bad as Helan can be at LB it would seem that midfield has been gaping so badly the last few games it has been hard to protect our final third. I agree that Lee & Seme should start. I really think Sougou has a strong argument for a start too. How can Mcgugan & Lopez deserve to keep their places when CC said players are fighting for spots. Semedo isn't a like for like replacement but Hutch spent a large portion of the game as an auxilliary CB, allowing the full backs to bomb ahead, which Semedo could do. Helan was probably unlucky to be dropped and Wiggins wasn't an improvement last night. Long term, he may be better but he is going to need time to get up to speed. RE: Match Thread - SWFC v Reading - Thurnscoe_OWL - 20-08-2015 I'd be tempted to try Helan on the wing again. If we're playing overlapping full backs then it doesnt matter as much that he doesn't like attacking the opposition defence and we also have his pace in there to get us out of the shit if needs be RE: Match Thread - SWFC v Reading - St Charles Owl - 20-08-2015 Great reports guys!! I am not sure Hutchinson can take another game so soon after this one with his knees, so I would definitely stick Semedo in on Saturday. McGugan has had two poor games now, so I would also strongly consider bringing in Lee for this game and hoping Lopez can offer the flair with Lee and Semedo offering some bite. Wallace and Hunt are just about untouchable down the right but the left side is a problem. Wiggins will imo be a better defender than Helan overall but Helan does offer much more going forward, particularly with his pace. I worry that without Helan bombing forward every so often, Matias is not going to get as much of the ball nor probably as much space, but conversely Helan doesn't get the support when in defence as matias appears not to track back as much, so the Wiggins/Helan dilema will continue until we can find a way of involving Matias without the need for an advanced LB. Hutchinson can be rested against Oxford so if he needed resting, he should have been rested against Reading. Wiggins got forward alright. He just didn't get past his man very often. |
