It's a bit like the Germans and the 1st world war. The rest of the world knew they would do something again and named the first world war "the first world war" in 1919, a good 20 years before the start of the second world war. And any decision not to venture off the Wednesday boards is a self imposed one!! No one has ever been stopped from doing that. Of course just like any other forum and even on the Owls board, being nice when you travel abroad would be welcome!! RE: The gambling/betting thread - Maddix - 13-07-2015 Quite true Chaz ![]() ![]() ![]() and it is still called the Great War now by proper historians ![]() And back to the OP ![]() ![]() RE: The gambling/betting thread - Thurnscoe_OWL - 13-07-2015 (13-07-2015, 22:41)St Charles Owl Wrote:(13-07-2015, 22:27)Thurnscoe_OWL Wrote:(13-07-2015, 22:15)Maddix Wrote: I think I agree with Thurny's understanding of the outcome of the 'Great Censorship War' I was out by a year but ultimately, my original point is correct Quote: Far from waiting until the Second World War had started, the First World War was rather pessimistically named as such in 1918. http://qi.com/infocloud/the-first-world-war RE: The gambling/betting thread - St Charles Owl - 13-07-2015 (13-07-2015, 22:44)Maddix Wrote: Quite true Chaz Now thats a version I can support!!! Although I think it only applies to one board, not the rest of the forum. And rest assured any visitors will have to behave just like we should when venturing out of our comfort zone!! I will be keeping an eye on things although there will be a window of opportunity for unmoderated naughtiness between 1.30am and 2.30am UK time when I will be on a plane, so set your alarms!!! |
