Now comes the 'no contact has been made for our player' statements for the rumoured West Brom interest.

Not sure why he'd want Giroud tbh, hardly a long term investment, can understand why almost any Prima Donna League manager (outside top 6) would be interested in Origi.

West Brom are interested in a deal for Galatasaray and Senegal striker Mbaye Diagne, 29. (Sky Sports)

Just thinking that today's result won't do Sam any harm at all in his attempt to attract a few more players...........

.... "maybe they're NOT dead in the water, maybe I can be part of this miracle escape"...?

We shall see.

Apparently looking at taking Okay Yokuslu on loan from Celta Vigo.

Hoping this one is true, because this is the type of player we are absolutely crying out for. A big strong defensive midfielder who can tackle, win the first ball, turn over possession and knows how to protect that back line. Someone with genuine defensive awareness that we are desperately short of in our midfield. He's also very tall, which will help us with defending set plays as none of our current set of midfielders can head the ball. Not bad on the ball either, which you would expect coming from a decent side in La Liga.

Going to be a tall order to keep us up, but the signs are there that Sam knows what we need. Our central midfield needs more experience, mobility and bite. If we were able to bring in both Yokuslu and Ozan Tufan - the other Turkish midfielder we were linked with last week from Fenerbache - that would completely transform our midfield. Between them they have 80 Turkish caps at 26 and 25 respectively.

RE: 2021 January Transfer Window - 10th Jan - Big Sam Special - WBA-Josh - 17-01-2021

Yokuslu I think is the more realistic prospect. He has only started 3 league matches this season for Celta and with Celta only using 1 defensive midfielder, his chances of getting permanently into the team ahead of Renato Tapia is very slim.

As for Tufan, I don't see Fenerbahce letting him go this month. He has only missed 1 league game and Fenerbahce has now found some consistency with Tufan and Luiz Gustavo together in midfield. I think there will be a better chance of signing him in the summer if we stay up.

Jonathan Bond has joined MLS side LA Galaxy.

The goalkeeper, who arrived at The Hawthorns in the summer of 2018, made seven cup appearances during his time with the Baggies.

Now we known why a back up. Anyone know why our no1 didn't play yesterday or in Cup?
