The pressure of living on £40K + each week must be massive. Bless.

The pressure of having 26,000 people scrutinise your performance and expect goals week in week out from you whilst you are centre of attention in a foreign country... don't think money is on his mind at that point

No, sorry, can't agree. Pressure is 3 people waiting at home to see if you are bringing home food for the table. He has a contract that means that even if he doesn't score goals he gets paid. I imagine your contract doesn't accommodate non-performance like that?

Adil Nabi to Peterborough  Huh

Pressure is like stress. It's a mental thing and it can affect people regardless of what level they function at. Example: a highly paid executive can have a breakdown due to trying to balance hugely complicated business transactions as much as a postie could create himself a stress situation because he can't do his round in less than 2 hours.

So it's very possible that not getting to a goal tally quickly is starting to play with his head. Affect his performance and impact him off the pitch etc.

It's very easy to be critically but this is where the coaching staff and people around him need to step in. The goal this week could be the change agent he and we need. Equally it could be a hug from a family member and being told they love him that trigger a return to goal scoring form.

Weird. The human brain is a strong but equally fragile thing.

All that said. If he does not score v Villa sell the waste of space Big Grin

Pressure comes in all forms!

Someone that defuses bombs for a living may earn £1 million a year... but i bet he still breaks a sweat when picking the wire!

I'm just saying, it's all well and good not having to worry about the mortgage and household bills,

But go stand centre stage in front of 26,000 people shouting at you to score and when you haven't for a while that pressure will build and build.

Confidence is key!!

But to say he shouldn't feel pressure because he earns a decent salary is a ridiculous in my view.

First Roofe and now one of our next best prospects sold off Adil Nabi to Peterborough.

Surly we are not that desperate that we have to sell off our future prospects when they are starting to get very close to being considered for the first team. If they need to go out on loan, fine but do we need to sell. The club must have their reasons for selling but it seems a little strange that just a few months ago when Nabi returned from loan in India, the club were singing his praises (as they did with Roofe) touting him as the best thing to come through the academy since SB.

Adil Nabi seems a pretty grounded young man with ambition to do well and, going by what I've read, had a bit about him on the pitch as well. The harsh reality is though, that TP has amade a decision to let the boy go without really seeing him in action at first team level. Have to wonder how much they thought of him at the baggies with Jonothan Leko and Tyler Roberts being on the bench for recent games with no sign of Nabi. No point crying over spilled milk, or sold players! We look ahead with a squad space free and the possibility of someone coming in.

RE: Jan 21st: WBA January 2016 Transfer Window - BaggieSteve - 22-01-2016

I may be wrong, and if I am I'm sure I'll be corrected, but Tony Pulis does not seem to ever have had a desire to bring through young players, either at Stoke or certainly with us. Rather he'd prefer to buy experienced players - also known as seasoned pros - whom he probably trusts more to do a job for him and play to his set pattern. My problem with that is this brings us players such a Rikki Lambert and, according to rumour, possibly Peter Crouch, two players approaching mid 30, with no pace and questionable desire. Meanwhile, young players such as Roofe and Nabi, nurtured through our acclaimed Academy, are let go with no opportunity. I appreciate the argument that we don't see what goes on behind the scenes or in training but, on that basis, Lambert must be playing like Messi on the practice pitch. You wonder if Berahino would ever have played under Pulis if he had not already been a first XI squad player
