Doesn't mean anything. These are local elections not National. People voted differently to what they would normally vote in a National election because they voted on local issues like bin collections and house building. Also with turnouts with 27%-33% it's not wholly representative.
The European elections in 3 weeks time will be the one's which will give a clear indication of what the people think on Brexit.
You are deluding yourself matt, there was a big swing to the pro-remain parties. Tories and labour both did dreadful.
Absolutely no chance of a labour government until corbyn sees sense, which looks unlikely.
I'm not deluding myself. Local elections are local issues and anyone who voted in the Local elections as a protest vote against Brexit were silly because Local elections are more important than National elections because it's about issues which affect you in the area which you live.
As for the Lib Dems they are no better than the Tories and my generation will never forgive them for what they did either.
Local elections are never more important than national elections and traditionally have low turnouts. However the signs are there that a protest vote was made, with the greens, LDs and independents all doing well. Come the EU elections it might be different again but its hard not to see some remain voter frustration taking place with the council elections.
Agree about the Lib Dems though, they have a lot to answer for.

Its with real incredulity I've watched farage claim that voting for his joke of a party in the EU elections is an endorsement for a "WTO" brexit
Once again stating things that aren't on the ballot paper are what people want.Only this time its the unelected officials in Geneva rather than Brussels that he wants in control.
I can almost forgive the tories for xxxx up the country, its what they do after all. And people believing in decades of anti EU propaganda in the press..... But pandering to that fascist orange bastard in Washington and his sidekicks like farage/banks/boris is utterly unforgiveable and frankly crosses the xxxx democratic line.
This is why voices for independence are now gathering force in Scotland.

Of course having earned millions from Hollywood you might just have considered not flying and working in England instead - you and Greg your hubbie have made enough for you and your children to live more than comfortably for the rest of several lifetimes ......
I wonder if the Greens have considered how far and at what cost EU bureaucracy forces MEP's and administrative staff to travel every few weeks when they chirp up for Remain?

Question time from Northampton was a hoot, farage in full on unchallenged bullshit mode. At least one member of the public pointed out his WTO bullshit for what it was to his credit... but as usual the audience seemed made up of gammon faced, elderly tories who have benefitted from the post war settlement (delivered by the socialists they hate by the way) muttering darkly about left wingers and immigrants and wanting to pull the ladder up for every other xxxx.

The world is very different from when we voted to leave. I understand it less than I ever did before.
I live in a town full of proto-greens who glue themselves to anything and everything, happily hang on every word little Greta says and will repeat "listen to the scientists" ........ yet they won't vaccinate their children against Measles whatever reputable science tells them and will re-tweet snake-oil theses to justify their stupidity.
My view remains that the EU is a bunch of shit, an absolute tool of the rich white world eating up the world's resources at an alarming rate. I wouldnae join it. I'd rebel against it. But I couldn't and wouldn't vote for Farage's wide-boy smirk if you paid me millions.
I also can't get why Labour wants to be part of a Customs Union rather than the Customs Union so it would get even less say than we do through the execrable European Parliament. Mrs May's deal is worse than being IN. All the alternatives presented to being IN are worse. And everyone has swallowed the cliff-edge and the backstop as though photo-shopped dystopic images represent reality. The only answer to leaving is to forge an entire identity via No Deal, but that has been placed beyond the pale .........
All that's left is stay in and look like a set of tw&*s, which is fairly accurate.

Those punters that will likely vote for farages circus in a couple of weeks are not likely to vote labour that's for sure, why he is pandering to them is bizarre. Possibly he is thinking about the pro-brexit labour seats that he might lose that would make even a labour coalition unlikely after an election....but who knows?
Labour are doomed under his leadership anyway. The guy has a good heart but he is a political lightweight, easy meat for his enemies....and there are many.

Nice photo of a young nigel with the national front in the papers today....but I digress.
I still think "No deal" is a coming. The EU will only extend again if there's a GE or a 2nd referendum on the table and no way will the tories go for the latter, it would finish them. France and Spain are already against the UK staying in the EU on principle now, they have had enough and are worried about going down a "2 separate budgets" route.
The only way I can see another referendum happening is with a labour minority government and the SNP/lib dems making that their demand for a confidence/supply type situation. I suspect it's one of the many reasons why the government does not want an election....but might end up forced to.
