must be **** hard in 'murrica. Shit bacon, shit sausages, shit bread, shit chocolate, shit sweets, shit football Whistle

You need to get out here, then you would see that most of that sentence is a little wrong!!! Bacon is different, not shit but not great for a bacon sandwich. Bread is good as long as you stay away from cheap white sliced, they have far more artisan breads here than you do. Sausages I will give you, some are good but the variety is poor!! Chocolate and "candy" is good as well, just a bit different from ours, but English sweets are fairly easy to get hold of now so get to have best of both worlds!! And you know my feelings on Football!!

I am sure Washington will agree, but the burgers over here are excellent, much better than the UK, as is the steak, but their pies are crap!!!

Nothing can be worse than the potato, potato, potato, potato, brown water and 'meat ?' pie that I had at L%$ds Whinos last Sunday Angry

RE: The FA cup thread - St Charles Owl - 03-02-2015

Maddix, no I grant you that sounds bad, but I bet it was still better than some I get here!!! Having said that I have found a steak and ale pie that Trader Joe's supermarket does, and its as good as anything I have had in England!! Their pies are just so plain, like their sausages, not variety its just chicken pot pie or chicken pot pie and maybe try the chicken pot pie!!!

RE: The FA cup thread - Thurnscoe_OWL - 03-02-2015

Burgers and steak are easier to get a hold of stateside. I have watched man v food and want to come over and visit a proper steak house now. Our cows are shrivelled by the time supermarkets have done milking them dry Doh

American chocolate is weird. We can get Hersheys over here and never had anything as bland, they're also blocking the importation of proper cadbury's products to the USA so you'll have that to look forward to Thumb up although kraft have started turning cadbury's to shit, creme eggs dont even use cadburys chocolate anymore Doh

Bacon is not bacon unless it's proper back bacon and the thick stuff. You can read a book though the poor excuse for tescos "bacon". Streaky bacon should only be used for cooking in other foods (risotto, pizza, wrapped round chicken etc).

Don't think anywhere can do a proper pie (ooh pies, I've got some in frezer I'll have to have now) like we can.

Bread I've got no idea about other than what other Brits have told me about it being sweetened so they make their own

It was shit Angry but the upside of it all was that they sell beer in 2 pint (plastic) glasses so you don't have to go to the bar as often Thumb up Perhaps that's something we could consider Huh

BTW, I bought a bottle of Henderson's yesterday so I'll be at the Farm Shop in the morning to buy some top notch stewing steak Thumb up the wife will take care of the dumplings Whistle

Laugh

RE: The FA cup thread - St Charles Owl - 04-02-2015

Sweetened bread is absolutely shite!! Problem is most Brits go to Florida, head down to Publix supermarkets and buy sliced white bread, that is the shit stuff!! We did the same until we tried some different things and found some great bread. The steak here is amazing, but as you say here they raise cattle for steak, and different ones for milk!! They also age their steak and certainly know how to cook it!!! Hershey's chocolate is more bitter than ours, bit of a mix of ours and Belgian chocolate. I mostly buy Cadbury's or Lindt but don't eat a lot of it anyway. Never understood peanut butter and chocolate though, can't get into that!!

Cannot get Henderson's here at all, so I always stock up when over in Sheffield but I am careful with it!! If the meal says add it to a stew I use Worcestershire sauce, then I add hendersons on top of the meal when I serve it!! That way its lasts much longer. Always have Atora in for dumplings as well!!

Doh You have never ever eaten any part of a female cow Doh All beef for consumption is male because males don't produce milk. The farmers may allow the occasional pedigree bull to live beyond its 2nd birthday to inseminate the females and perpetuate the herd but all the rest of the boys are toast Doh

Isn't that only the case with certain breeds?? Not all breeds of cows are used for milk production are they??, but I have no idea really so could be wrong!!!

RE: The FA cup thread - Maddix - 04-02-2015

Naah, that's why we have veal Thumb up the male is mainly a useless commodity in dairy production and so forms the majority of the meat industry. It's the female population that produces all the milk so the farmers top all the males, mainly between birth and 12 months, apart from one or two that they need to shag all the big fat cows Whistle to piss us some milk and keep the production line going Thumb up

I like a nice sirloin though Whistle

Oh, I nearly forgot Doh all the female cows become dog food, cat food or chinese takeaways Whistle at the end of their milk producing years because the meat is too tough for human ? consumption, apparently Thumb up

I think I'll be a veggie Blush

Naahhh, not really Laugh

RE: The FA cup thread - Thurnscoe_OWL - 04-02-2015

I've done some research. Thumb up
We have separate beef and milk farmers but over half of all females born to milking cows aren't needed for milk so are sold to beef farmers along with most bulls. They are then raised for the meat.

I was wrong with my joke about supermarkets and cows and for that I apologise. Peace dove

I like the direction this thread has gone in though Thumb up much better than talking about a pigs game Big Grin

Also, why do we still have WalkingLaughingHohohoFlashing these? It's turning into Bonner mkII
