RE: European Union Referendum - In or Out?? - hibeejim21 - 18-02-2019 Fly BMI heads into administration. 376 jobs at risk....citing 'brexit' uncertainty as the reason. Meanwhile our politicians go round and round in circles. What needs to happen first is an extension to A50 and then the UK electorate must be allowed to decide to either ratify May's deal or opt to Remain in the EU. Sadly just now a no deal by default looks more likely. RE: European Union Referendum - In or Out?? - 0762 - 18-02-2019 And further to my initial comment in thread #1350, surprise surprise (not!) - seven Labour MPs have finally quit the party as totally disenfranchised with the LP's Brexit line and the way Corbyn et al are going about their business as time begins to run out!! What a shambles but this just the beginning! RE: European Union Referendum - In or Out?? - hibeejim21 - 18-02-2019 I smell Blair and Mandy behind this move. They have actually made another referendum even harder to achieve now with their attacks on the leadership. The Labour Party has lots of problems but in my opinion the accusations of widespread antisemitism seem like nothing but rampant exaggeration. I notice the gang of seven aren't even going for by elections. Cowardly as xxxx. RE: European Union Referendum - In or Out?? - 0762 - 19-02-2019 And now Honda pulling out its UK ops with the loss of 1000s of jobs. A recent EU-Japan trade deal ensures that Honda's "natural outpost" is no longer in the UK!! Ah well!! More casualties in job losses etc but we'll just have to "take the hit" (a case of "it's not affecting me" eh) for the greater good of "suicide" Brexit!! Huhhh!! It's not about Brexit, it's about stopping a Corbyn Government getting into power. I bet they will try and get Corbyn to resign and once he resigns the 7 will rejoin again. They should have by elections! They got into Parliament as a Labour member, the office they held was because of the Labour party, they got into Parliament because of Labour voters and increased their majority because of Labour voters. RE: European Union Referendum - In or Out?? - hibeejim21 - 19-02-2019 I agree with you matt - how is it democratic in the slightest that labour voters in those seats now have independents representing them? When they stood on a labour manifesto in the first place ? Their resignations should automatically trigger a by-election. Its another instance of how poor the UK political system is. RE: European Union Referendum - In or Out?? - hibeejim21 - 20-02-2019 3 tories have resigned and joined the "independent group" with the labour MPs. RE: European Union Referendum - In or Out?? - 0762 - 20-02-2019 https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-47306022 Unprecedented but again no surprise with scathing comments of a RW Tory govt impending. Could this be the start of the "flood" to set up a new "centrist party" of some sort to embrace the millions n millions of people who feel totally disenfranchised from both mainstream political parties. From my Scottish viewpoint, bring on Scottish independence and lets not bother activating a section 30 order either! Just do it asap! Listening to Mrs Windrush's cheap criticisms of the SNP and Scotland, a "smokescreen", while ignoring Ian Blackford's scathing criticism of her fragmented party and sham of a Brexit negotiation. What an incompetent PM/unionist shit she actually is and has proved it time n time again!! The 3 which have resigned haven't surprised me because they didn't come across as Tories even though they voted for cuts etc but that was probably due to the whips asking them to. He speaks a lot of sense, shame he isn't in the Labour Party as he would make a good leader of the opposition. RE: European Union Referendum - In or Out?? - spireitematt - 20-02-2019 I take back what I said. Anna Soubry is defending Austerity and the cuts that the Tories and Osborne made while in power. This Independent Group thing is going to end in tears when they become a party and create a manifesto. |
