RE: Match Thread - L**ds v SWFC - peiowl - 22-08-2015 That's it. I didn't have to listen to most of it so my opinion is not as well informed. But I'm glad with the point. Hadn't expected it. And yes. I agree with SCO. We need a decent striker. Nuhiu, Lavery, Jaoa and Bus have all had a shot at it, to varying degrees. It's time to give May a chance. Or, ship the lot of them off (except Jaoa) and sign someone with a track record. RE: Match Thread - L**ds v SWFC - St Charles Owl - 22-08-2015 I'll take the point. Decent first half but poor second half. We have the quality to do better but we are not finding the runner or not making the runs enough to create the space. Nuhiu was statuesque today, either coming too deep or not able to win or keep the ball with any consistency. I thought Lee and Hutch did well in midfield but our wide players seemed to struggle to either beat their man or get a decent cross in. You can see the signs of a good team but it's still lacking a couple of pieces. RE: Match Thread - L**ds v SWFC - Statesideowl - 22-08-2015 Nuhui was in no mans land by himself, we sat back too deep, and tried sloppy long passes that failed. I expected more support on the wing and not such a vacant midfield. L**ds bossed it and found room constantly. I honestly don't believe that game would have gone any different with Hooper/Jones/ or any other striker up front. We didn't seem to want to take a risk going forward and thought we could protect a point for the last 30 mins... I'm far from impressed with what I just watched. Sloppy passing, loose marking, almost heartless stuff. I'd like to see the final stats I bet L**ds had 70% possession RE: Match Thread - L**ds v SWFC - Thurnscoe_OWL - 22-08-2015 what a shit game that was ![]() ![]() RE: Match Thread - L**ds v SWFC - Owlkev71 - 22-08-2015 CC didnt seem to want to win the game, seemed happy to settle for a point. Mentallity of a continental coach perhaps?? I suppose a point isnt too bad away from home at our local rivals. RE: Match Thread - L**ds v SWFC - Thurnscoe_OWL - 22-08-2015 Should have chucked Bus on for Nuhiu instead of Helan for Matias. Nuhiu was so slow round the pitch, constantly in the way and won naff all in the air. It was weird, we played on the floor and looked more dangerous. We changed to hooooof and looked vulnerable. What does that tell us? Probably that we needed someone more comfortable on the ball in CB RE: Match Thread - L**ds v SWFC - St Charles Owl - 22-08-2015 The thing about a more mobile striker is it allows space for the midfielders to run into. Lee and Hutch made a number of good runs to support the striker but Nuhiu couldn't win the challenge or find them with the ball and the attack breaks down. Matias scored a great goal but then disappeared from the game, he is too important to us to do that, he has to find a way to stay in the game and provide an outlet. Sougou didn't do much, took his man on a couple of times but that was about it. Wallace and Hunt would have done better today but hopefully they will benefit from the rest in the next few games. RE: Match Thread - L**ds v SWFC - Statesideowl - 22-08-2015 Hoofball is ineffective outside the Pub league. We need to grow up and play like the other big boys. A point is better than nothing. We could have so easily lost that game and I wouldn't blame them for saying they could've /should've edged it. CC and his crew need to wake up as does the squad. Try pulling that shit away against teams like Boro and the likes and we'll get pasted. I feel we also need to step away from that old mentality of comparing things to the worst case scenario in order to rationalise the performances. " A points ok, we could've lost" type stuff From a better squad and higher ticket prices people should expect more and not have to make excuses to find solace in the shit that was served up in front of them. RE: Match Thread - L**ds v SWFC - Thurnscoe_OWL - 22-08-2015 a hoof every so often can be a good thing but in the 2nd half we went all out hoof. We need to mix it up a bit, long ball into space for wingers to run into or short passing to feet RE: Match Thread - L**ds v SWFC - Daffodils on the piano - 22-08-2015 Ah well time to laugh at the others in our region |
