I do think most pro footballers/coaches prefer being called 'thick' to 'useless on the pitch'. Their Mums have said 'Brains in his boots' since they were 9 or 10, but I've called some of our players 'useless' on here for years, which is what the Forum's for.
Phil is obviously a very passionate fan, who speaks his mind (very well) - hope he continues to.
(In summary, not nice to call an Albion favourite a 'nice loveable stupid fool', but we've all called Albion players much much worse, without wondering if they've read this Forum).
And you should read some of the comments on players' football ability on other Forums!

.... IMHO it's a different thing calling a player 'crap' or 'useless', to continually calling a particular person 'stupid' or an idiot.
It's insulting for one, and it's now got very boring.
I'm aware that we live in a time when it seems that people are looking for reasons to be "offended" but this is unnecessary and, to me, it IS offensive. There's no need for it.
(... and there IS a difference in what's posted in THIS forum to other ones - that's why WE all like it!)

This is a fantastic forum (if I say so myself
). Mark and I took a lot of stock for filtering certain words but it’s not possible, without huge cost, to monitor ‘sentiment’ and so we will have to leave that to the Mods to decide what is acceptable or not. It varies club to club after all
I would love to think ex professional players are using this forum, especially Albion, and if they are I am 100% certain that they would not be offended by anything they read on here. They were certainly called much worse by fellow professionals, opposition and most likely their own fans. Back in the day.
However, it saddens me and it’s a sign of the times that when I read an article linking Big Sam to West Brom, I think, “Actually that’s not too bad”.

Lots of posters on here who still love DM - as I do and I have said many many times.
I don't think calling someone a fool is offensive. That doesn't mean I don't like him or respect the guy.
How many people thought DM was heading for the door? How many people believed he knew he was finished when he did his last interview?
Then he sits down and say's he didn't know he was heading for the sack? Does anyone on here honestly believe that? So he was either lying (which I have never accused him) or fooling himself. Nearly everyone on here thought his time was up and shouted me down for questioning his tactics time and time again. I'm not going to appologise for being correct.
Shan has waved a magic wand - he is playing with the same squad and I have not commented on him. I haven't said he is green, lacks experience, stupid or a fool. He has changed the formations, stopped playing tip tappy and how and when we do substitutions. Rode his luck, but so what.
If Darren had done this he would be top of the league now and he would still be our manager.
What do you call anyone sticking with a losing system - CLEVER ? Point the finger at the person who got Darren sacked - Himself.

Neither was I ? it was just a comment on Darren talking about his own sacking. He belittled himself IMO. Sorry if nobody else could see it.
I've often thought lots of people is various sports were stupid / Thick / Daft / Foolish e.g. Frank Bruno, Mike Tyson, Paul Gascoigne, Eddy "Eagle" Edwards, Vinnie Jones, Balotelli, Collymore, Steve Bull, Joey Barton, etc - I could carry on - this doesn't mean to say I do or Don't respect them. Some I do some I don't. I'm sure others on here can name a few.
