I try not to pick up on what individual players can't do and look at what they do in each game. Obviously, I do get frustrated when simple passes and shots go astray as they have done all too regularly this season, especially compared with last season. Like everyone else I can't believe some of the chances we miss, like Fletcher today, but credit has to go to him for continuing to get in the right positions and eventually score. In the end I thought we were so much better than on Tuesday night and I can't criticise any player for little details in a match where as a whole the team played really well and completed the double over one of the top two teams in the division.

Watched this five hours after the actual game Doh bastard child commitments Angry but I managed to avoid the interweb and had a CD playing in the car Cool all I can say is that if Hooper and Lee had been available this season we would be almost promoted by now Smartass

We just need to play Newcastle for 46 games and the jobs a good un !!!!

RE: The Owls v The Geordies SBC Match Thread - Owlkev71 - 09-04-2017

This team is perplexing, we can do the double over Newcastle and Huddersfield, yet can only take 2 pts out of 12 from Brentford & Burton!!!

Imre how can you give Reach a 3 but Semi a 6 ? Semi had to come on and play his normal game which is very limited when we were winning while Reach was an outlet with his running a good help defensively too with his tracking back /defending. What I seen of Reach yesterday his passing was pretty good and he is the only player in our team with pace.
I know everyone has there favourite players but a 3 against a team in the top 2 when we won ??

Anyway Lees for me was at fault for there goal....he got caught under the ball which for a CB is a no no....he didn't even look convincing with his jump to try clear it while Mitrovic was able to control the bloody thing on his chest. If Lees didn't think he was going to get it he should of stayed goal side and made it harder for Mitrovic rather than taking himself out of the game....simple !!!

Bannan wrecks my head....he looks busy and does his tricks but some of his passing....there was one in the second half in particular where I think it was Fletcher he was trying to pass too but it was so slow and telegraphed Diame of all people was able to run on to it....annoyed the shit out of me that. He actually looked better when he went RW for me to cover Wallace going off.

The rest did well but the infuriating thing is this is how they should play every week....what the fook like !! Did DC go to Fletcher shoot us to the PL and I'll give you a million or something like that ? All done without FF, Hutch, Abdi and Lee which is positive.....and Rhodes too so it's a no and give him back at the end of the season for me.

Id keep Rhodes if we can give him decent pre season training he will bang in 20 !! he has come in at a time of trouble also with 15,000 strikers and a manager who doesnt know who is top 3 strikers are ? to me hes no1 and Fessi is number 2 with Hooper in at 3 the nuhui Joao and fletcher can leave for me and winnall im still not sure about ?

Towin, Lees was clearly pushed from under the ball, you can see both Mitrovic's hands outstretched into Lees before he takes the ball on his chest. Lees complained to the ref straight after the goal but obviously realised there was no point. I agree about Bannan, his passing is nowhere near as good as last season and he slows the game too much for my liking. I still think there's a good player in there though.

I'm afraid the reason we don't play like that every week is that not every team comes to try and take us on at open football. Newcastle back themselves to outplay most teams in the division and it made for an entertaining game. Same with Norwich and to a lesser extent Bristol City. The 3 most exciting games I can think of this season. Teams like Burton and Rotherham have come and just put ten men behind the ball to try and frustrate us and it has worked in a lot of cases and makes for dull games. I'm not sure we've quite got the drive in our play to consistently find a way through obstinate defences.

RE: The Owls v The Geordies SBC Match Thread - Imre varadi - 09-04-2017

Agreed about the teams parking the bus !! so it means that when we do get a chance we have to score its simple against any team you like lets say Cardiff for example we will get at least 3 chances on goal if not more ? so its our fault we are not taking the chances and nobody elses !!! and if it also means shooting from outside the box then we have to hit the target and not wadsley bridge !!! again its our fault if we cant hit the target nobody elses !!! we have to be 100% at this stage in the year at hitting the target as there all big games !!! Fletcher has proven he is 50% Rhodes Rhodes Fessi and winnall 30% so if i were the manager i would have them doing nothing more than shooting inside the box all xxxx week in training and nothing feffing else aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!! modern strikers are xxxx pathetic aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh........ give xxxx imre a game he does quite a lot of work still at Hillsborough im sure he would still be better at hitting the xxxx target than these xxxx muppets !!

Back from my hols and its nice that we won 2 and drew one while I was away. If we can get Hutch, FF and Lee fit for the run in then I think we have as good a chance as any other team in the playoffs!!! We certainly have nothing to lose and as long as we get there then last seasons experience should hold us in good stead!!
