RE: Sporting Predictions 2025 - theo_luddite - 18-04-2025 We've a fun-filled weekend of sport kicking off this weekend, the only problem is we'll be passed Mid-Summer's Eve before two of them finish and even the Snooker, right on cue, breaking off at the Crucible again on Saturday rattles its balls against the pockets until Spring Bank Holiday Monday. https://www.wst.tv/matches?tab=1 The NBA play-offs start on Saturday though they've still got two games tonight to decide the final qualifiers. If you haven't picked one of these (AmChaff?) then pick another early on Saturday. https://www.nba.com/playoffs/2025 ![]() The quest for Lord Stanley's Shaving Mug also starts this weekend on what should be rapidly melting ice, but fortunately they play 'em all indoors. Again, if you've picked someone not in these lists (AmChaff again?) then pick another early Saturday. https://www.nhl.com/playoffs/2025/bracket ![]() ... and then there's Town. ![]() RE: Sporting Predictions 2025 - Amelia Chaffinch - 18-04-2025 I don't understand it. Me neither. ![]() RE: Sporting Predictions 2025 - theo_luddite - 18-04-2025 The two sides you picked AmChaff aren't in the play-off's in either sport, unless I missed something, so I'm suggesting, as you still have time before tomorrow evening's tip-offs and face-offs that you might want to pick a team in either or both competitions that is. In the case of the NBA it's teams in the middle two columns, in the case of the NHL it's the list of teams at each end. I've provided a link to each sport's play-off website to help you work out who is who. Alternatively pick one of the teams the rest of us have picked. RE: Sporting Predictions 2025 - Amelia Chaffinch - 18-04-2025 Nuggets COL (Colorado?) Scrap that... Maple Leafs RE: Sporting Predictions 2025 - theo_luddite - 20-04-2025 Kyren Wilson out in the 1st round in Sheffield. RE: Sporting Predictions 2025 - theo_luddite - 20-04-2025 One of the "Original Six" in 1917, the Toronto Maple Leafs have won the Stanley Cup 13 times. Their last Stanley Cup championship was in 1967. RE: Sporting Predictions 2025 - theo_luddite - 26-04-2025 The Ladies Egg Chasing more or less concludes this weekend. Italy v Wales has been postponed for obvious reasons but the only game that matters is England v France at The Cabbage Patch at tea time. In the never ending play-offs over the pond they've only played each other about 3 times so far so no deciders there yet. If the EFL play-offs were over as many games and we let a third or maybe half the division get involved we'd be starting next season in October. Oh! They do! The Boys of Summer threw the first pitches and hit the first home runs at the start of the month but I won't pester you any more on that until, oooooh, Late September (not in) 1963 (or May 2017). Ooh what a night, Ooh what a night. ![]() In the Snooker, Donald Trump will be hoping to get past Shaun Murphy to keep about half of us interested, bigly. Well, he wins all the tournaments at his golf club in Florida so why wouldn't he lie about his scores in Sheffield too? RE: Sporting Predictions 2025 - theo_luddite - 27-04-2025 England beat the Frenchies at the Ladies Easter Egg chasing so a point each to Snoots, AmChaff, SHEP and me. Liverpool have won the Prima Donna League a month before it matters so points all round there and almost likewise with Brum in League One with only AmChaff missing out on a point there. The Scottish Championship is between Falkirk and Livingstone, so we've more than a few still interested there. Nobody seems to want to win League Two but they've only got one weekend left (and some midweekers) for Donny and Port Vale to decide which one of them doesn't want it. I told you Walsall were no Celtic, even if I ignored my own advice. Man City play Crystal Palace in the FA Cup Final in a few weeks. AmChaff's highly optomisitic Plymouth pick went off the wrong end of the Hoe a long while back. 5 of us still have an interest there. I'll post the spreadsheet update tomorrow once I've properly caught up with what's already done and dusted and what's still blowing in the wind. I'm negecting a bottle of wine right now and it's getting annoyed with me. Where's that cheese and biscuits? Ooh, grapes too. RE: Sporting Predictions 2025 - ritchiebaby - 27-04-2025 Hey, theo. I'm wanting a share of that there Easter Egg before the four of you have it all eaten. You know I'm desperate for points. Enjoy the wine, I'm having a wee malt with my cheese and crackers. |
