RE: INTERNATIONAL THREAD vs Switzerland - Chezzie Owl - 12-09-2014

Here here MS, it seems Consilio cannot face the fact that Rooney isn't as good as he was and that everyone else thinks that he ISN'T world class so his only comeback is his scoring record, which is good....but nowhere near as comparable to the likes of Messi, Ronaldo, Lewandowski & Falcao (who has a far better goals to games ratio 220 goals in 361 games for club and country compared to Rooneys 275 in 619 games) whom are all in roughly the same age bracket as Rooney, give or take a couple of years.

He had the potential to be world class and he nearly was but as you say his record in championships is pretty poor and NEVER delivers when it matters most...the same for the rest of the so called "Golden Generation".

RE: INTERNATIONAL THREAD vs Switzerland - consilio - 12-09-2014

Rooney is often played out of position due to his excellent versatility.

Why would I agree with you if I think it are wrong?

RE: INTERNATIONAL THREAD vs Switzerland - Chezzie Owl - 12-09-2014

Yeah I know he is versatile but whilst he is a top player generally, I just don't think that he is world class and that I don't think he is our best player at present and that he is in bad form.

But there is one way that you can agree with me...agree to disagree and end this argument and accept that we both have conflicting opinions of Wazza!! <olive branch smiley>

The point of his scoring record is irrelevant. The only time when we actually won a World Cup was when the manager, Alf Ramsey took the bold decision to drop his top scorer (Jimmy Greaves) and bring in the "promising" Geoff Hurst. The rest as they say is history.

RE: INTERNATIONAL THREAD vs Switzerland - Thurnscoe_OWL - 12-09-2014

I think Rooney is better behind the striker/s but that's Sterlings position and Rooney shouldn't get in ahead of Sterling ON FORM

RE: INTERNATIONAL THREAD vs Switzerland - Thurnscoe_OWL - 12-09-2014

yep Doh

RE: INTERNATIONAL THREAD vs Switzerland - consilio - 12-09-2014

Who's the promising striker you are thinking could replace Rooney?

RE: INTERNATIONAL THREAD vs Switzerland - Thurnscoe_OWL - 12-09-2014

We'd play 1 up top

RE: INTERNATIONAL THREAD vs Switzerland - consilio - 13-09-2014

Why would we do that when it doesn't work Confused

RE: INTERNATIONAL THREAD vs Switzerland - consilio - 13-09-2014

Erm, no.
