RE: Liverpool vs WBA - FA Cup Fourth Round Match Thread - talkSAFT - 28-01-2018 It must be catching: I just went round to rib my Scouse neighbour, and all he could think to say was that they really miss Coutinho. I said "Bollocks to that - I thought Albion were brilliant." His face went into a puzzled expression, and he muttered something like: "Yeh - they played well"........ before enthusing over VAR. So even Scousers (who used to be quite generous when they were top) have caught the Media bug. On another note.... I thought The Pole had an influential game. He gave the ball away a couple of times, but most do when they're involved so much. A few weeks ago he was being left out, and I got the impression he couldn't care if he was playing or not, so long as his £80k was going through every week. I reckon Mr.Pardew's had him in his office and told him he's got a future here, and that he's got a big role to play. Yesterday he wasn't anonymous, and his ref-badgering showed he actually cared. If so, well done Mr.Pardew. After a somewhat disappointing stert, over the last few games he has shown his class. As for Brunty, it was him that set up our first goal with a superb little pass to JRod. Brunty has extremely good vision on the field of play and adds a lot to our creativity. I singled out Brunty and Barry because of their age really; in a high energy game they more than kept up, and their experience meant they not only read the game brilliantly but also used the ball so well. This link showing Brunty at his best is just fantastic: http://www.givemesport.com/1245425-everyone-loved-what-chris-brunt-did-in-west-broms-32-win-over-liverpool?autoplay=on RE: Liverpool vs WBA - FA Cup Fourth Round Match Thread - Beefy 1965 - 28-01-2018 Didn't realise but on Twitter a couple of seasons ago Andre Mariner was banned from doing WBA games as he confessed to being a Villa fan, It has now come to light that Pawson was fairly happy with the goals and penalty to let play continue The person on VAR suggested Pawson review them That person was one Andre Mariner !!! ![]() RE: Liverpool vs WBA - FA Cup Fourth Round Match Thread - Zinman - 28-01-2018 Guys, we may be celebrating too early. I understand André Aston Villa Mariner is still locked in the VAR studio trying to find a way to disallow the Albion goals. And with Liverpool out, will BT Sport give up their rights to the cup for the rest of the season? He should not officiate us in any capacity. Not even video ref! I said as much on my post. Why was he appointed as video ref? RE: Liverpool vs WBA - FA Cup Fourth Round Match Thread - Beefy 1965 - 28-01-2018 Mariner was the dick that gave chelski a injury time penalty against us when we were 2-1 up, when Steven Reid was supposed to have fouled the chelski man (name escapes me) who infarct dived with no contact at all Pity Mariner wasn't called into question be VAR then, f in cheat !! ![]() RE: Liverpool vs WBA - FA Cup Fourth Round Match Thread - Salopbaggie - 28-01-2018 Looking forward to the draw tomorrow with Manchester United, Leicester, Huddersfield or Birmingham, Notts County or Swansea, Coventry, Millwall or Rochdale, Southampton, Brighton, Wigan, Hull, Sheffield United, Newport or Tottenham, West Brom, Chelsea or Newcastle, Cardiff or Manchester City. Not wanting to tempt fate..... but if Man City draw Man Utd and Chelsea draw Spurs (assuming), who knows!!!! RE: Liverpool vs WBA - FA Cup Fourth Round Match Thread - 4evaabaggie - 28-01-2018 Was angry about the VAR decisions yesterday but have had time to calm down and rationally consider it, I have long been calling for video refs so it would be hypocritical now to be angry ....... provided that VAR is used fairly for both sides then it is a good thing ...... yes it appeared to favour Liverpool yesterday but I would rather win or lose fairly than get a result or lose to some of the appalling decisions we have suffered in the past ..... a VAR 200 miles away can not be effected by the crowd, chairmen or influence of the big clubs ..... in theory. It's new technology, it will speed up with application, every goal or penalty decision should be checked by VAR, it shouldn't infringe on game play to much when up to speed ... fans can still celebrate the goals but there may be more choruses of " you thought you had scored ..... you were wrong, you were wrong ". RE: Liverpool vs WBA - FA Cup Fourth Round Match Thread - Beefy 1965 - 28-01-2018 What I find strange that no one seems to have mentioned is that before Barry was flagged off side he was shoved twice in the back by Mingolet Now if you have twitter or BBC iplayer watch it again and tell me it wasn't a Penalty before the offside was given ? Anywhere else on the pitch clear foul, so why if using VAR wasn't this picked up on ? |
