RE: WBA vs Peterborough - FA Cup Fourth Round Match Thread - Zinman - 30-01-2016 Back from the game, a long walk with the dogs and a couple of pints in my favourite micro pub......and I now feel chilled enough to comment on the afternoon. Starting with 10 men didn't help - I'm in my 50s and am confident I could bring more to the team than Lambert. Berahino is the best finisher .... sorry, only finisher, we have in the club but if played wide he offers no support to the full back - as shown when Poco was left isolated for their 2nd. I assume our training during the week consists of general fitness and set pieces rather than passing and how to control the ball. We seem to have a mindset that says we have to defend any lead regardless of who we're playing (or hold a 0 - 0 we're up against a dangerous team like ..er Villa) - today a more adventurous team would have been out of sight by half time but we seem to stop looking to score once we're ahead. And yes, I blame Pulis for this approach. By the end I actually felt relieved that we hadn't lost and that says a lot about the state of this club. oh, and someone stated that we were going for it as we had 3 forward players on the pitch......yes, but when we were leading, one of them was playing on the left wing and one in midfield! RE: WBA vs Peterborough - FA Cup Fourth Round Match Thread - RainbowTurnedEastStand - 30-01-2016 People must be thick if they thought we were going to play free flowing football with a centre midfield partnership of Yacob and Gardner. Pulis needs a left back on loan and Matty Phillips before Monday nights deadline or we could be facing relegation, Brunt,Fletcher, and Morrison out injured,Sessegnon back to his worst, and Lambert the fat twat. RE: WBA vs Peterborough - FA Cup Fourth Round Match Thread - BaggieMan - 30-01-2016 Does anyone know how long Lambert's contract has to run? It seems pretty obvious that he regards his time at West Brom as a final payday and just lurking around and drawing his pay cheque. I fear the same might apply with Cwouchie IF we went in for him - at the end of his career and not hungry enough. As for Sess, he was fantastic when first brought back into the team by Pulis putting in some brilliant performances, then all of a sudden, his form drops soon after without any reason. Is it a mindset ? I totally agree with Rainbow, we need someone like Matty Phillips and a left back desperately. Sandra hopefully could be a good addition defensively but the jury is out. Attacking midfield is what is needed and we ain't got much time to sign the right player. For a team which is supposed to be strong on defence, letting two in against a Division Three side is criminal, and conceding so soon after scoring is, too. Lambert for the scrap heap. As someone correctly said above, his missed chances are as much to blame for today's result. How many chances does he need against any level of opposition before he proves he is still an effective striker? Pocognoli - is he good enough, and do we give him more time and games? If not, ship him out with Lambert in the summer and let's stop wasting money. Albion as a club deserve all they're getting at the moment. Talking of attacking midfielders, how is Malumbu playing these days - forgot which team he went to. RE: WBA vs Peterborough - FA Cup Fourth Round Match Thread - Salopbaggie - 09-02-2016 I know this thread was for the other fixture, but thought I would save paper and recycle this one. According to the Express & Dingle, Jonathan Leko, our 16 year old "wonder winger" has be recalled from the England under 17 team in order to be available for tomorrow night. I would like to think he is going to get some game time if TP has pulled him out of an England game, under 17's or not, but TP's record with blooding young players is not the best. http://www.expressandstar.com/sport/west-bromwich-albion-fc/2016/02/09/jonathan-leko-looking-good-for-albion/ RE: WBA vs Peterborough - FA Cup Fourth Round Match Thread - Zinman - 09-02-2016 I can see lots of chances being created in this one. I'm just hoping that Peterborough miss them and we can cling on for extra time and penalties. |
