RE: The gambling/betting thread - madsteve - 22-06-2015 Brilliant outcome for me with Speith winning at 9/1 & Oosterhuizen getting a place at 22/1. Even got a place on Grace as well. I thought the final round was as good as any final round of a major that I can remember, maybe only matched by Faldo v Norman & Scott v Cabrerra at the Masters and Nicklaus v Sanders, Watson v Newton, Watson v Price & Lawrie v Van De Velde at the Open and Ogilvy v Furyk, Mickelson & Montgomerie at the US. Kept me up until after 3.00am this morning. While the course had its detractors, it made for compelling viewing with shots swings always possible. Several players came out of the event with enhanced reputations. Speith obviously but Dustin showed that he can compete for majors on most courses, Oosterhuizen is back & a good bet for St Andrews, Scott will be there or there abouts, Grace can convert regular tournament form to majors, Lowry will be in contention on links style courses & even Rory restored his reputation with a great final round to blow away the daemons of recent weeks. My long list for St Andrews is likely to include similar players to this event. Only bets on Tiger should be to miss the cut for the forseeable future. RE: The gambling/betting thread - madsteve - 24-06-2015 Back to the regular golf season this week after filling our wallet at the US Open. Not going to be betting very big this week because tournaments can be unpredictable the week after a major. BMW International I am steering clear of the players that played at the US Open last week, which means avoiding five of the top six in the betting - Stenson, Kaymar, Lowry, Luiten & Weisberger. This makes Chris Wood a clear favourite for me and value at 20/1. Matthew Fitzpatrick did well for us two weeks ago and is great value at 66/1 Eddie Pepperell tied second in Ireland a couple of weeks ago & is fresh to go again here at 66/1 Darren Fichardt has had improving results recently and got a top ten finish here two years ago so is value at 80/1. Kristoffer Broberg appears to be finding form with 13th & 6th in his last two events so worth a punt at 80/1 Wood 20/1 (Paddy Power) Fitzpatrick 66/1 (Coral) Pepperill 66/1 (Coral) Fichardt 80/1 (Paddy Power) Broberg 80/1 (Bet365) All bets each way. I have only bet small on the last two with half my money going on Wood. Travellers Championship A tough field here with Watson, Snedeker, Reed, Garcia, Grace & Horschel coming straight from the US Open. I think Horschel & Leishman have their merits but I prefer the man who hit the heights in the final round last Sunday. Was really impressed by Louis Oosterhuizen last week & don't mind players from the US Open so much here as there is less travelling involved. It looks like his injury worries are behind him so he could chalk up some big results this summer. Russell Knox has been getting better & better results and looks sure to get a win soon. He has good form on this course so is value at 40/1. My third bet is a punt. Graham Delaet is a player who often lets you down but sometimes pulls one out. He claims this is his favourite course so he should be in the right frame of mind. He finished 3rd here two years ago so I am happy to go at 55/1. Oosterhuizen 25/1 (Coral) Knox 50/1 (Coral) Delaet 55/1 (Bet365) All bets each way. I have over half my money on Oosterhuizen. I think there is a value bet in the Scottish Hydro Challenge Tour Event. Andrew McArthur has shown some good form this season and noticeably does better in events in Scotland. Think he is worth a bet at 40/1 each way on Paddy Power. RE: The gambling/betting thread - Owlkev71 - 25-06-2015 BMW Chris Wood 20/1 Pablo Larrazabal 50/1 Victor Dubuisson 80/1 John Hahn 100/1 Travelers Kevin Na 40/1 Gary Woodland 66/1 RE: The gambling/betting thread - Owlkev71 - 29-06-2015 Thank you Mr Larrazabal, £80 win with a £2.50 bet ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() RE: The gambling/betting thread - madsteve - 30-06-2015 Also made a small profit last week with DeLaet finishing 4th for a place at 55/1. RE: The gambling/betting thread - madsteve - 01-07-2015 My first two bets for this week's golf are: Jamie Donaldon 25/1 (7 places with Paddy Power) Alexander Levy 33/1 (6 places with SKY Bet) RE: The gambling/betting thread - madsteve - 01-07-2015 In the Greenbrier Classic, I am going for Patrick Reed at 28/1 (5 places with SKY Bet) |
