RE: WBA 2017/18 Summer Transfer Window (29 August) - Salopbaggie - 30-08-2017 (30-08-2017, 20:26)WBA-Josh Wrote:(30-08-2017, 20:17)Beefy 1965 Wrote: Will not be following up on the souza deal now ... We still have Chadli, and others who can play through the centre, I mentioned Burke playing up front, but he can play pretty much anywhere from the midfield forward, McClean can plat in an inside left position (sorry to everyone under 45 for the phrase) Brunt can also play in that position, Philips can play inside right. It strikes me though looking at the signings being brought in that TP is putting together a team with similarities to "his" Palace side. A solid defence than pace on the counter, would work for me RE: WBA 2017/18 Summer Transfer Window (29 August) - Slick_Footwork - 30-08-2017 If the above tweet it true, it looks like Sakho could be a direct replacement for Evans. Which could means Evans is on his way to Arsenal? Or Mangala has turned us down? Sakho was an absolutely rock for Palace last year, and immense when they beat us at our place. Top notch defender and good on the ball. The worry with that fee is his mentality. We all know Pulis doesn't take players with a bad attitude. Personally, if Evans stays, I still think we need another centre half as cover. We have 6 senior defenders in Dawson, Nyom, Hegazi, McAuley, Evans and Gibbs and I don't think that's enough. Especially with McAuley injured, Hegazi's injury record and the fact that Evans often misses a game here and there. Although we have the likes of Brunt and Krychowiak who can do a job, I'd feel a lot more comfortable with an additional centre half on the books. The squad is coming together nicely, but my only worry is lack of depth. A few injuries in key positions and there's not much strength in depth. RE: WBA 2017/18 Summer Transfer Window (29 August) - Baggiebob(BBB) - 30-08-2017 Having signed Gibbs as a genuine left back that has also made me happy, though having signed six good signings this window has made me shake my head in amazement and I needed to sit down to have a large rum to appreciate its a done deal. We have now a team that will challenge any other team - me thinks - so hurrah to that. Oh my head! And what of Jacob? Or have I missed he's gone somewhere? RE: WBA 2017/18 Summer Transfer Window (29 August) - Beefy 1965 - 30-08-2017 Baggieman you are correct Look back at the signings and look back at the links from our Local Journos Not one has spotted a signing coming in until they were at the ground having a medical All except one jouno.... Percy at the telegraph & mail has been one step ahead all the time !! By Yesterday Lunchtime he said we had pipped Watford to Gibbs and the Polish guy was on the plane ..... If anyone is on twitter follow this guy he is one step ahead regarding Albion's transfer goings on ![]() @JPercyTelegraph RE: WBA 2017/18 Summer Transfer Window (29 August) - 4evaabaggie - 30-08-2017 I hope de Souza deal was off because of work permit issues otherwise we have dumped him deep in the brown stuff .... he went to his chairman asking to join us even tears apparently, now we've dumped him ........ not fair. RE: WBA 2017/18 Summer Transfer Window (29 August) - Baggie_One - 30-08-2017 Leicester 28 million bid accepted for Evans ?? RE: WBA 2017/18 Summer Transfer Window (29 August) - 4evaabaggie - 30-08-2017 (30-08-2017, 21:43)Baggie_One Wrote: Leicester 28 million bid accepted for Evans ?? Why would Jonny go to Leicester, hope this is just stoking up the bidding war. I would be disappointed if he took a sideways step to the east Midlands ...... would send him off with good wishes and a heavy heart to a top four / five club but not to lower mid table Leicester ... no disrespect intended. RE: WBA 2017/18 Summer Transfer Window (29 August) - BaggieSteve - 30-08-2017 (30-08-2017, 19:52)Sir Megson Wrote: Said it at the start of the window and I'll say it again now. Letting Darren Fletcher leave was going to be the start of a decisive and hopefully positive transfer window for us, and what an upgrade we've signed in Krychowiak! I agree. I always felt that Darren Fletcher's influence was greater off the pitch than on it. I was sad to see him go but not gutted as I felt he was never going to improve the team whereas I think Barry and Krychowiak will do that. RE: WBA 2017/18 Summer Transfer Window (29 August) - Beefy 1965 - 30-08-2017 How about this and me saying @jpercy is mostly always right ![]() John Percy John Percy @JPercyTelgraph · 1h Aston Villa have agreed a fee with West Brom for Gareth McAuley. Steve Bruce looking to add experience to his defence #wba #avfc RE: WBA 2017/18 Summer Transfer Window (29 August) - Slick_Footwork - 30-08-2017 (30-08-2017, 22:16)Beefy 1965 Wrote: How about this and me saying @jpercy is mostly always right Would be gutted if this happened as Big Gaz is, in my opinion, the best defender I've seen at the club in my lifetime. Also good for lots of goals too. But that said, maybe our medical team know something about his injury we don't? He's 38 this year and if his injury is worse than first though and they've offered some wonga, it makes sense. Would definitely need 2 centre backs then. Edit: Just realised it's someone on a fake account, taking the p*ss out of Villa's aging backline. |
