Probably gave it the benefit of doubt but has seen what's on the table and has headed for the hills. Interestingly Nicola Sturgeon said today there may not be football for a considerable time. Budge's craziness doomed it before it even started. It's obvious it's just going to be a last gasp attempt at keeping hertz up, she knows there is nothing in this for hibs. I was very impressed by Les Gray's interview at the weekend, he didn't miss sevco and hertz either. He sounds much more tuned in to the issues than budge. I get the feeling the SPFL are giving Queen Anne the rope to hang herself with, and Les Gray is there to point out anything she comes up with to save them has to suit clubs like Hamilton too..... Very, very unlikely. I think we can also forget fans in stadiums for the foreseeable future in Scotland. I've got no idea if closed door games can even be feasible either. So ....when are we playing out this seasons games ? RE: The pandemic strikes Scot footie - economic carnage to follow? - 0762 - 21-04-2020 Aye! Lotsa unanswered question and a good move by Leeann. I also listened to Les Gray on bbc Sportsound and he certainly impressed compared with the extreme behaviour of Rangers and Hertz officials. If we ain't playing games in Scotland soon the whole game will go under. The dreadful tv money we get will ensure it. Clubs here cant survive without crowds. RE: The pandemic strikes Scot footie - economic carnage to follow? - hibeejim21 - 21-04-2020 NEW: UEFA will produce guidelines for associations that want to end season early - but has strongly recommended top leagues finish their season. Working group gave update to all 55 associations this lunchtime. This fannying about is going to be hugely damaging for clubs that depend on attendances for revenue. RE: The pandemic strikes Scot footie - economic carnage to follow? - hibeejim21 - 21-04-2020 No football in the Netherlands closed door or otherwise til September. The eredevisie informed UEFA today that it was highly unlikely they could finish the season. UEFA living in cuckoo land, think the same that's happened in Holland is the same in Ireland who have also dismissed playing games behind doors. RE: The pandemic strikes Scot footie - economic carnage to follow? - hibeejim21 - 22-04-2020 The other consideration is that 45 per cent of the players are out of Contract or loan deals up in June. I think sturgeons talking guff about BCD games personally. RE: The pandemic strikes Scot footie - economic carnage to follow? - hibeejim21 - 23-04-2020 "As a result of representations made by the football authorities in Belgium and Scotland, the Committee recognises the issues raised and approved the Guidelines on eligibility principles for 2020/21 UEFA club competitions. The Guidelines reflect the principle that admission to UEFA club competitions is always based on sporting merit." Looks like UEFA have accepted the Belgian and Scottish league requests to call the leagues, and they have approved their proposed method of using current league standings/points averages for European competition qualification. They have also stated no association can null and void their league. RE: The pandemic strikes Scot footie - economic carnage to follow? - 0762 - 23-04-2020 After that latest UEFA statement, the "ball is firmly placed in the court" of the SFA and SPFL to "make the call" but will they do it? I notice Leeann saying that she would like the SPL to be completed in August - aint gonna happen Leeann! There's wishful thinking and there is the sheer reality of appreciating the impact of a major crisis that has never been experienced in a very, very long time! |
