RE: craig thomson - Inverurie Jambo - 18-02-2017 Sorry Jimbo, but don't agree that he is a cheating bastard , just a bad referee. RE: craig thomson - 0762 - 18-02-2017 That's a matter of opinion and throw in an element of partiality towards a certain footie club during his lengthy time as a Scottish referee, combine it with the fact he is indeed a poor referee and that is one biased and lethal cocktail of awful officialdom that could face any unsuspecting footie club as we've observed down the years and the SFA does absolutely zilch about it! RE: craig thomson - HerefordBull - 18-02-2017 As you say 0762......a matter of opinion. ![]() RE: craig thomson - Inverurie Jambo - 18-02-2017 Haha, loving that. An element of partiality towards Hamilton Accies- well I never!!!! RE: craig thomson - hibeejim21 - 19-02-2017 Some decisions are simply inexcusable though. With CT i've seen him deliberately not apply the rules of the game on more than one occasion. Thats distinct to him getting things wildly, farcically wrong like at accies,or in the CL game. I think he's worse than collum,a egotistical cheat and a terrible official. RE: craig thomson - Inverurie Jambo - 19-02-2017 Terrible official, not a cheat. It might appear to some eyes to be cheating but that's just not on IMO, he makes, at times, horrendous decisions but he honestly thinks they are correct at the time he gives them- that's what refs do. Because he gets it wrong does not make him a cheat. RE: craig thomson - 0762 - 19-02-2017 It's interesting you saying that Jim because one incident, that vividly sticks in my mind, occurred in a Scottish Cup semi-final replay at Hampden Park in 2007 when a very good Hibs team played the Pars (and not Hearts FC eh!!!!) and a Pars' loan player from Everton (I can't recall his surname offhand) challenged Stevo 'off the ball' with a retaliatory karate style mushigiri kick to his knee with Thomson positioned adjacently to the incident - about 4 yards off it with an unimpeded view. He casually walked up to both players, issued a free kick to Hibs and totally ignored what was effectively an assault by this lad - a straight red card offence all day long - a defining moment in this match as same offending player earned pk that won the match!!! In both of these semi-final matches he consistently ignored the rules governing persistent fouling by the likes of Macintyre, Mason and a few other offenders in the Pars' team in order to stop Hibs playing - absolutely disgraceful and deliberate btw!! There are lotsa other highly questionable 'incidents' attached to this guy and I'm surprised that a match fixing accusation has never been levelled at least once against Thomson. As Newhavenhibby says, it's all a matter of opinion, eh! RE: craig thomson - HerefordBull - 19-02-2017 The longer I watch this clown I have come to the conclusion he is not biased towards anyone ( when he did the derby last at Tynecastle he was probably more favourable towards Hibs in his poor decisions) and is just a poor ref. If he is in charge of ANY game you know a dodgy decision won't be far away and that might be in a league game, a euro game and the Edinburgh derby. If it happens in the latter against Hibs then of course all the usual cries of bias come out. He showed again the other night in the cup replay he has difficulty spotting the line of the penalty box let alone a swallow dive. ![]() I know from his history it is easy to think that his main agenda is let Hearts get the better of Hibs, but I don't think so now........but that is just my opinion.... ![]() RE: craig thomson - 0762 - 19-02-2017 I'm sure Hibs have never won an Embro Derby under Thomson's officiation since his inception into Scottish top flight footie in 2003! Don't you find that a wee bit unusual??? However, tie that in with his known affiliation to Hearts for a period during the 1990s and that draws us closer to a clash of views on how a Scottish footie ref can possibly be classed as fully impartial when officiating said fixtures incl more important ones! Also Thomson's resurrection to officiating an Embro Derby at Tynecastle during Hibs Scottish Cup winning season last year was as described - a return to a fixture after a lengthy period when he was discreetly omitted from 'touching it' by the SFA and he'd be 'expected', after consultation, to ref this fixture impeccably and try to avoid any controversial issues if poss. |
