To be fair I don't agree with giving a pen away as an automatic yellow. It's just a foul like anywhere else on the pitch, it should only be a yellow if it's dangerous or a professional foul..

It's not an automatic card for a foul in the area. Denying a clear goal scoring opportunity is a red, a bad foul is a yellow or a red anywhere on the pitch.
