RE: Everton vs WBA - Match Thread - HarryJAllstarWBA - 20-01-2015 That was the performance we needed imo. Pulis is still dealing with AI's squad, once he's brought in his own players it'll get better. Points are what we need and we're getting them. Unbeaten in 2015 and haven't conceded in over 300 mins. That wouldn't be the case under Irvine RE: Everton vs WBA - Match Thread - wba_1996 - 20-01-2015 TalkSAFT - The thing with Pulis is that he WILL change the set up if we go behind, something AI looked like he didn't know how to do. Look at when Palace came back to draw with Liverpool 3-3 last season... RE: Everton vs WBA - Match Thread - HarryJAllstarWBA - 20-01-2015 It isn't beautiful football, but I'd rather play like that and get points than play poor football and lose like it was under AI RE: Everton vs WBA - Match Thread - tidy - 20-01-2015 Everton relieved. Lukaku's been found...... ![]() RE: Everton vs WBA - Match Thread - Stairs - 20-01-2015 Pulis interview very satisfying. Get the clean sheets first. Proud of what they did. But need to keep that ball and not give it back so soon. Then buy a winger plus a few other. Get the defensive core right then build up the team to attacking quality. A work in progress. We will survive and next season we will be very different. RE: Everton vs WBA - Match Thread - WillieJohnstonsGreenhouse - 20-01-2015 Sorry, Willie. I'm chuffed with a point of course, but it looked to me like - even if Everton had scored the penalty - we wouldn't have bothered crossing the 1/2 way line. It was like watching the Villa (hahahahaha). I'm not one of these Premier-at-all-costs type. I'd rather be in League 2 than set teams out like that. We defended brilliantly, but what happens when Yacob gets sent off? Or we give away another penalty? Or we play teams with a bit more imagination? The Club should pay our followers' petrol money for taking 1/2 day and spending a fortune to watch that I completely know where you're coming from mate. I'm sort of caught between the two. I enjoyed the game tonight but probably for the wrong reasons. I hate having to be negative to win but I accept that's where are. It's something Villa are struggling to come to terms with. ![]() RE: Everton vs WBA - Match Thread - Zinman - 20-01-2015 Pulis will keep us up but by making us the most boring, negative side in the league. Two matches against poor opposition and we haven't created a single chance. I'm glad I no longer go to away games. RE: Everton vs WBA - Match Thread - Slick_Footwork - 20-01-2015 I don't understand the "i'd rather be watching good football in the lower leagues" thing... If you go down, you lose your best players, go to lots of rubbish grounds, play against lots of teams playing anti-football. I've watched my share of League 1 and 2 on Sky and frankly, it's usually complete dross. TP has come in with the club in the doldrums. We probably won about 7 or 8 league games in the last year? We're not exactly going to be able to go to Everton and outplay them. I don't want us to play dull football forever, but staying in the league is a platform to keep your best players and buy better ones. As far as I can see, with a couple of more incisive attacking players - that sort of counter attacking football could be okay to watch. Especially because if you get one goal, the whole thing opens up. The spirit and organisation was excellent today - the quality going forward will come. Apart from Saido, we have little who offer and end product. If we had 1 or 2 more that did, counter attacking football would be fine - especially away from home. RE: Everton vs WBA - Match Thread - Beefy 1965 - 20-01-2015 Pullis when asked,............ "Tony I suppose you will be glad when the January window is closed and keep your better players"........ (Saido) theres no bugger else on that performance bar the 2 CB's, & Yacob(MOM) Pullis response ........ "Over ? Not at all I need a few in and quick ![]() ![]() My glass is neither half full or empty tonight. I Know what needs to be done so fair play ![]() But some of those players should be nowhere near that starting XL Brunt , Wow how poor is this guy, I have never rated him but now and again his set pieces were a Joy, Now he offers sweet FA !!! For two years we have been crying out for pace, that has to be the slowest team bar the Snails XL ![]() Then he leaves Sess out puts our only goalscorer out wide , Mmmmm I think Tony knows all this , i think he is fitting pegs into round holes. But unlike other managers as he has just admitted "We need a out ball so we can attack much better than that !" HE WILL PUT THIS RIGHT ![]() RE: Everton vs WBA - Match Thread - WillieJohnstonsGreenhouse - 20-01-2015 (20-01-2015, 00:27)Stairs Wrote: Pulis interview very satisfying. Pretty much sums it up - not pretty but he knows what he's doing. Weird how a different manager plays the same players with different outcomes - a size ten to the neithers works wonders (20-01-2015, 00:38)Beefy 1965 Wrote: Pullis when asked,............ I hope we don't play like that at home but it was perfect tonight. Pulis+1 |
