Just tired of everyone linking them together. Corberan has had to develop further whilst with us... his results weren't good enough for long enough. He needs crediting in his own right for learning how to win now, nothing to do with Bielsa. RE: Play Offs against Luton - theo_luddite - 18-05-2022 In my opinion Devon - Carlos would have learned a lot from Bielzebub, but Bielzebub seemed to have Plan A and only a Plan A. It was a bloody good Plan A I'll give him that, but when injuries kicked in Plan A didn't work because while everyone had a job to do and knew their job well, he didn't have enough players in the squad to replace them when they got top players injured - so they didn't know the other blokes job either. Now, Carlos was pretty much the same last season. Just as it looked like he'd got things going, we got a load of injuries over Xmas/New Year and everything went pear shaped for a long while until the injuries cleared up. Our defence was a shambles, our attack was mediocre and we relied on 3 players to score, nobody reached double figures. This season he's had multiple plans and multiple players that know each others job not just their own. He switches it round more in a game than many that called him a one trick pony last season would ever believe (he played the cards he was dealt at the time). Had it been perfect this season we'd have been in the top 2, but I'll take 3rd all day long in a division where anyone in the bottom 4 can beat at least one of the top 6 (sometimes home and away) for no apparent reason related to form, injuries, money or anything else that makes any sense. He's a lot to learn and IF we go up he'll have a lot more to learn very quickly. While Bielzebub went up with an expensive Championship squad assembled to get promotion and then improved some more to stay up - once again we've a squad assembled to hopefully go from bottom 3rd to middle 3rd and we've actually finished up 3rd and in the play-off final. Thing is if (like Peru) you either keep the ball off the opposition, or you beat them for speed on the break and you play to your strengths and can stop the oppo playing to theirs, you'll win more than you lose - as long as you take your chances when they arise. (Cough) Arsenal! PS good luck against Halifax but I've told you before where my loyalty lies on that one. RE: Play Offs against Luton - Lord Snooty - 18-05-2022 Even the pundits, in the same breath as linking him with Bielsabub, say that you can't predict what plan Carlos is going with. Yond ex Leeds boss was very predictable. So predictable, it hasn't taken the rest of the Prem that long to work it out. RE: Play Offs against Luton - theo_luddite - 18-05-2022 Well it took almost a season (well no, Spurs at home if I'm honest) to work out Wagner, then Chelski and the Manc Oil Blues dozed off just in time to help us out at the end of the season. The Red Mancs couldn't work us out any more than they can anyone else 4-5 seasons on tbf. We mostly got battered more than the cod and haddock at the local chippy in the 2nd season, but who doesn't? I've logged back in, I keep getting requests for tickets. Some I've been able to help out and others I couldn't. Managed to get an old mate a ticket in our Block (216) pretty much on the row in front of us as he was just after a single ticket. Others needed 2 or more which means they couldn't sit together anywhere in the Club Wembley section never mind our block. More and more tickets are getting released in the upper tier as tickets get sold with still 15 blocks to go on sale as of 8am this morning. By the way if you have any questions about Wembley then feel free to fire them across, after the John Smiths and Leeds Road grounds Wembley is my most visited ground (34). Happy to help if i can RE: Play Offs against Luton - Lord Snooty - 19-05-2022 Sorba Thomas has signed a new contract. He's ours til 2026. ![]() What about Toffolo? Come on. RE: Play Offs against Luton - Amelia Chaffinch - 19-05-2022 Well they can keep 'em, then! The thing about Bielsa is that if you ask Phillips or Bamford they'll tell you how much he improved them. Ask Dallas, ask Ayling, ask Liam Cooper not wanted at Hull, sold cheap to Chesterfield, now an international and a Premier League defender. Your players are getting better individually under Corboran as well as improving as a team. Halifax must feel they've got the worst tie possible. Everyone is beating us. We haven't scored a goal in living memory. Halifax will know they will look like complete wazzocks if we win. I doubt they ever expected to be certs to reach the next stage. It's not the kind of pressure they're used to. Nigel Havers couldn't sell our chances in The Bidding Room. It's tough on Halifax. RE: Play Offs against Luton - theo_luddite - 19-05-2022 Not saying he didn't improve anyone, it's just it's no coincidence L666s have been in the bottom 3rd almost all season and, mainly as a result of injured key players like Phillips and Bamford with insufficient back-up (small squad) or a plan for how best to play with those available when they obviously weren't making his Plan A work, particularly in defence. He pretty much said so himself. 2nd season syndrome played a part too. |
