The lack of celebrations were surely out of respect, afterall to be running around punching the air after scoring against a Conference side (albeit they edged the first half) would be embarrassing.
That was a typical AI first half, then a bollocking from TP and you saw the result. I like what I hear from TP, he's no nonsense and not a bull shitter. He puts a team together to win the match, not set up 'not to lose' like AI and even that didn't work for him.

Worldclass, I am in your camp, I believe the Albion players were aware that they were playing against amateurs and did not want to disrespect them, Gateshead gave us a game, fair play to them, blues and derby both struggled against non league opposition, once we got in front there was only one outcome. I wish Gateshead well for the future.

Yep. I watched Dover - Palace today and the same thing. Palace players not really celebrating. Fair play....

Well, actually, I am - I think it goes the other way, gives the impression that it was completely expected, 'yeh, I've scored but it's only against **ite so it's no big deal', and is actually showing NO respect.

Personally I'd like to see this "not celebrating goals" put to bed. Ex-players or lowly opposition, it's disrespectful to the paying punters who make sacrifices to watch their teams. We've had precious little to get excited about for 12 months and I for one want to see him Albion players fist-pumping, somersaulting, kissing the badge and busting a gut to win every ball that goes into the box.
When TP said he was looking forward to working with lad I could help wondering whether he had a Saturn 5 rocket on this mornings' to do list with "the lad's" name on it.

I think too much gets made of it either way. Watching those highlights against Marlow and Aylesbury again, it's clear that none of our players even back then really made a big deal of celebrating goals against an amateur side, especially after the first couple had gone in. A quick smile or shake of the fist was all they'd show. Ultimately, fans pay to see goals (and ideally, plenty of effort between them); I'm not sure why it matters what they do once the goals are scored, as long as it doesn't bring the club into disrepute. If celebrations and badge-kissing are more important than what happens during the match, then Paul Robinson must be Albion's greatest ever player. Oh, hang on...
Show some passion when the whistle blows and I'm a happy man. Beyond that, it's the players' choice what they do or don't do.

Moses, TP has already said that Berahino was a very happy guy in the dressing room after the game. I think if I'd scored four goals and assisted in another, and I was also the club's top scorer in the PL, and the manager wanted to put a rocket up my arse, my response would be 'Ok, you do that, my transfer request will be on your desk first thing tomorrow.'
