WBA vs Burnley - Match Thread - Ska'dForLife-WBA - 16-10-2020 With so much of the country neck-deep in doom and gloom, it's been nice of Albion to keep to the theme during the first month of the season. All of the positives we took from the tough games of September, while kidding ourselves that we were only outclassed by the league's best teams, fell apart during a miserable afternoon in Southampton a fortnight ago. Now we have three consecutive Monday night games against the sides around us to try and turn this awful start around. If it's going to happen, then it needs to happen now. We start with the visit of Burnley to the Hawthorns. Not only winless but pointless too, they've struggled for goals and shipped far too many at the other end - a familiar formula for us Baggies. It could either end up a proper goal-fest or a cagey, who-blinks-first affair, but hopefully we may at last get to see our signings in action, with Ivanovic and Karlan Grant waiting in the wings to make an impact. Of course, Chris Wood will be looking for a goal or two on the old patch, but even if he plays the game of his life, there's no excuse for Albion in this one. Three points are necessary and sorely-needed. Famous fans: Wicket-taker extraordinaire Jimmy Anderson is the pick of the bunch among a raft of soap stars, assorted TV no-marks and Alastair Campbell. The late Ted Heath was an aficionado, and Prince Charles has on one occasion professed an attachment to Burnley, which does beg the question of what it is with that family and claret. Elsewhere, they've recently tried to lay claim to rapper Snoop Dogg on the basis that he uses Burnley-manufactured music equipment, which would be rather like us claiming Dolly Parton because she once ate a pork scratching. We'll give the King of Swing the salute he deserves and say they're welcome to all the others. It was never proved that our ex-PM was a child-molester. ![]() RE: WBA vs Burnley - Match Thread - Baggiebob(BBB) - 17-10-2020 I'll be holding my breath on this fixture, because without a win against a winless team I will really be hoping our new signings will in future games give us some get up and go to keep us from being relegated. Though like us all on here I will support them whatever happens. ![]() RE: WBA vs Burnley - Match Thread - Blue Baggie - 18-10-2020 Win lose or draw is not important, the performance is the heart of the matter. Once a baggie always a baggie RE: WBA vs Burnley - Match Thread - drewks - 18-10-2020 The realist in me can't see past 2 goals from Chris Wood meaning "zero points". The optimist says we'll be surging forward against a team (like us?) with fragile confidence, and the creativity that we undoubtedly have, will give US a 2 goal win. THE OPTIMIST WINS IT!! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() RE: WBA vs Burnley - Match Thread - talkSAFT - 19-10-2020 Huge game. Apart from being a 6-pointer, a good performance will breed some much-needed confidence. RE: WBA vs Burnley - Match Thread - Blue Baggie - 19-10-2020 I'm going for a 3 - 0 win. Lady luck and VAR to be on our side. COYB RE: WBA vs Burnley - Match Thread - wba13 - 19-10-2020 Six changes it’s an attacking line up. Johnstone. Furlong. Hegarzi. Ivanovic Townsend Gallagher Livermore Krovinovic Diangana Periera Grant. Come on you baggies. RE: WBA vs Burnley - Match Thread - Slick_Footwork - 19-10-2020 Better selection for sure. It's time to see what this squad can do. Would've liked to see Robbo start and Grant come from the bench as Grant has had no football and Robbo has done nothing wrong. RE: WBA vs Burnley - Match Thread - Lord Snooty - 19-10-2020 Grant hasn't played since we played you at the JSS last season. |
