Mick Hucknall - talkSAFT - 29-11-2018 I know he's pretty good - but he's not my cup of tea, and not just 'cos he's Simply Red, a ManU nut. But he happened to be on the box last night, just as I was getting psyched up for the match. The thing is: IS HE THE SON OF CHARLIE DRAKE??? The likeness is incredible. (If CD is before your time, I'll let Beefy fill you in.) RE: Mick Hucknall - WBA-Josh - 29-11-2018 Word on the street is that you were a good friend of Mozart Talksaft. ![]() Anyway, I’m not entirely sure who Charlie Drake is. I’m only a young whipper snapper so I’ll need some assistance from one of you golden oldies. RE: Mick Hucknall - Arcane Astral Aeons - 29-11-2018 wernt Charlie Drake a 50`s/60`s comedian? RE: Mick Hucknall - talkSAFT - 29-11-2018 Cheeky sod, Josh. (Mozart taught my old man to play the ukelele). And QE's showing his senility! (Hope someone can upload a recent photo of the 2 - I can't!) RE: Mick Hucknall - Devongone - 29-11-2018 As a neutral ..... Mick Hucknall sang Holding Back The Years because he was abandoned by his mum. Charlie Drake said Hello My Darlings all the time, which wasn't inherently funny, but seemed strangely popular. Both had/have curly red hair. Charlie Drake was only 5' 1". I met his former girlfriend on a cruise. She was about 5' 10" and a big lady. She wasn't Mick Hucknall's mum either. Mick Hucknall's dad was called Reg, but he wasn't Elton John, so Mick supported Man Utd not Watford. As far as I know Charlie Drake never agreed to take a DNA test. RE: Mick Hucknall - themaclad - 29-11-2018 Hello my darling was CD's catch phrase if memory serves me right RE: Mick Hucknall - Ska'dForLife-WBA - 29-11-2018 I caught a bit of that too, and didn't realise at first that it was Mick Hucknall. First time I'd seen him in about twenty years. It looked like someone had stapled a ginger wig onto Hans Moleman. I also know someone who once met Mick Hucknall and not only wasn't he CD's son, he was also described as a complete and utter t**t. And Charlie's son looked exactly like his Dad....who also wasn't Mick Hucknall......drink time. RE: Mick Hucknall - BaggieSteve - 29-11-2018 i have to confess I'm old enough to have bought Charlie Drake's single "My boomerang won't come back" when it first came out in 1961. I'm not proud of this and am only getting this off my chest now because I'm amongst friends. |
