WBA vs Leeds - Match Thread - Ska'dForLife-WBA - 09-11-2018

From going into the last international break on the crest of a wave, Albion stand on the verge of entering the next one with only a point to show for the last month's exertions. Our last chance to get things back on track before winter descends is against high flyers Leeds on Saturday evening - the first opportunity their fans have had to wreck our stadium for many a year - and with our management team apparently set to continue with the system that's been our undoing time and again, it could well be a long night.

If we go three at the back and Kemar Roofe is in the mood to show us what we missed out on, then we can only pray we've got enough firepower up front to even things out. Of course, it might be that our defence and midfield suddenly adapt to a formation and style that have looked beyond them all season, but somehow it seems a bit early for Christmas miracles...

We will get back into form at some point, it's inevitable, hopefully it'll be tomorrow, cos they'll realise Leeds have enough quality that they can smash us if we're not on it. That's about as positive as I can get looking towards this game.

Anyone know the odds on a Roofe hat-trick?

Ska'd, Was that photo from '82 when we relegated Leeds?
I'm looking at a lad in the photo who looks like a Work colleague of mine 15+ years later, and I'm just wondering whether to blackmail him.
(He's probably a top Manager now).
Big Grin

I believe it was Saft,
I was there and they were tearing at the fence 15 mins from the end,
Then I think it was Steve Mackenzie who curled a beauty in in front of the Brummie with a few minuets to go, it was at that point the Fence was lifted and thrown on the pitch,
I didn't wait around for the final whistle I couldn't be arsed to fight that night Whistle

Thumb up Thanks, Beef.

I can’t see us getting a result tomorrow unless we change our ways. I think tomorrow is the day where we should change to a more basic shape and play a more basic game. Defend deeper in a narrow, containing block and try to exploit the Leeds defence on the counter-attack through the pace of Phillips, Barnes and Gayle. I can’t see it going well if Darren tries to go head-to-head with Bielsa.

Johnstone
Dawson - Bartley - Hegazi - Gibbs
Barry
Phillips - Livermore - Morrison - Barnes
Gayle

Subs - Myhill, Tosin, Townsend, Brunt, Sako, Hoolahan, Rodriguez

I think everyone knows it's time to adopt a back 4 with the exception of DM & GJ
I would be going for more radical changes

I said to a friend who got a ticket for the Derby game that that was a nailed-on defeat for the Baggies, and unfortunately I believe this game is another one.
Leeds will have no fear coming into this one, and Big Dave will come under a lot of pressure if we don’t get at least a point. We’ve got some decent players, and we can score goals, there’s no question about that, but a fragile midfield and, even worse, mystifyingly sticking to three at the back against all the evidence will be Dave’s undoing. There’s no excuse whatsoever for some of the defeats we’ve suffered.
If he plays three at the back again today and we lose, I for one won’t stick up for him any more.
