Hearts v Hibs, Wed 31 October, KO 7.45pm - 0762 - 25-10-2018

The first Embro derby looms ever closer and I'd suggest to Neil Lennon that he deploys a hi-press game plan v a Jumbo team that will be competing 3 days before in a physically testy match v Celtic at Murrayfield. I'm hoping they get a "real doing" before they take on Hibs at Tynecastle and that will hopefully set us up nicely to "rub salt in their wounds" and finally win a game at a ground where our record is absolutely dismal and unacceptable - we've never won at this ground for years and even recently "robbed" of a win by downright crass ref officialdom when Ollie Shaw scored a cracking goal in n off the Hearts cross bar!!!! You couldnae make it up eh!! Throw in that 2-2 draw during our Scottish Cup winning year 2016 which was a "psychological victory" but should've been an outright win as we were by far the better side as has been the case in a good number of these matches against some very poor Hearts teams. We have a good, 10 day period to plan meticulously for this match and deploy it on their "wee pitch", which has always given them an advantage IMO. Lets "break the mould" and beat them and hopefully beat them well!!! Shackle that wee ####, Naismith, their main source of goals, and beat them on their own ground!! We definitely have a Hibs line up that can do exactly that, so lets do it against IMO an improvised Hearts defence! C'mon Hibs - "show up" and play the way that you can play!!

RE: Hearts v Hibs, Wed 31 October, KO 7.45pm - 1Wattie - 28-10-2018

We have more than enough class and style to get a result on Wednesday. Hearts will be suffering from the 3-0 defeat to Celtic and the possibility of losing Naismith to injury and that could prove a big advantage to us. A win might propel us back up the league but a draw would not be a disaster at this time of the season.

Hertz are a hard side to break down, and with the injuries they have now I expect them to go all siege mentality midweek and be right "up for it", turning the game into a stop-start affair with the pitch suiting their game. We are going to have to be at our best to win, especially as our record at the PBS is atrocious.

You saw today how Celtic, once they found their feet, moved the ball from swiftly out from the back and side to side, played it patient and dragged Hearts about the field. That's what we are going to have to try for.

If poss I'd go with a back 4 with hanlon or porteous, and play boyle and horgan on the flanks. If McLaren is 100% we should start him up top with flo.

RE: Hearts v Hibs, Wed 31 October, KO 7.45pm - 0762 - 29-10-2018

I'd also focus on Hertz left back, Mitchell, although it must be noted that Celtic exposed their RB, Smith, esp in the 2nd half of yesterday's semi-final. I'd be tempted to play big Marv in front of our back four - he never fails to have a "blinder" at the PBS. It looks like McLean might also be missing/suspended as it transpires that he grabbed Kouassie's goolies in yesterday's semi-final - being assessed by the ref scrutiny officer! The guy is apparently a "serial offender" for this kinda offence according to some of the pundits on bbc Sportsound! What a "low life with an agenda" if that is the case and I'd be surprised if he has not been discreetly "given a sair face" at least once during his footie career.

RE: Hearts v Hibs, Wed 31 October, KO 7.45pm - hibeejim21 - 30-10-2018

Mclean is an arsehole and has been since before he rolled up at the PBS. Naismith out for 6-8 weeks too, normally I'd feel sorry for a professional in that instance but in that horrible wee bastards case i'll make an exception.

RE: Hearts v Hibs, Wed 31 October, KO 7.45pm - 0762 - 31-10-2018

There is indeed a "touch of irony" re Naismith's injury predicament and the timing of that innocuous incident with nobody near him in such a "big game" for the JTs.

Before we even get to the game tonight i have to say absolutely appalling scenes at tynecastle the night. From the farce at the turnstiles (again) to one of our fans going boxing with some hearts neds early on..... Then coins, missiles (a bottle landed very near where we were) and smokebombs thrown into the hibs end... and some of our fans were no better throwing coins into the hearts end. Apparently the hearts goalkeeper was struck by a hibs fan, lennon hit by a coin and both linesmen struck by missiles. Stewards and police did absolutely xxxx all.

Both clubs are going to get hammered for this. The atmosphere was absolutely poisonous.

RE: Hearts v Hibs, Wed 31 October, KO 7.45pm - hibeejim21 - 01-11-2018

On to the game, i felt a draw was probably fair on balance.

Hearts started both halfs with a lot of urgency and had us forced right back, but we gradually got into the game and in the 1st half created the best chances, in particular McGregor should probably scored with the header....

After the sending off - which was a joke as flo should never have been on a yellow anyway and there was little in the challenge i felt. He unfortunately allowed himself to wound up by the hearts players and made it easy for dallas.

In the end we defended very resolutely to get the point with hertz hitting the woodwork and having one (rightly) chopped off late on, even if we struggled to play our game for much of it. Instead we got drawn too much into the physical battle. Always a risk that would happen on the tight pitch at the PBS!

Where do I start to summarise this match? Very little footie played, Darren Mac should've "buried" that free header in the 1st half and bulleted it home - come on Darren!!! Focus, head with power and make sure you are on target for a 0-1 lead!!! It was also the Stevie Mallan show in that 1st half - some great efforts on Hearts goal! But a special mention must be given to our captain and MOTM for the night, big Marv - never fails to perform majestically at the PBS! As for that ref Dallas - done it many times before and again confirmed what a weak and poor ref he actually is, the wrong choice for this fixture!
As for the "poisonous" nature of this match, I must say I expected it - very "Rangersesque" of this Hearts support eh! Fancied their chances v Celtic in that semi-final and the events that unfolded saw their team implode and their aspirations do the same - hence the poisonous reaction to getting their "noses rubbed in it". I'm disappointed re that Hibs incident on the Hearts goalie but note the word "alleged" re that so called punch - watched it on video and unconvinced that was a punch anyway but even touching that goalie must be avoided TBF! However, mass offences coming from Hearts AGAIN for all to see and you should've witnessed the mass brawls in Embro CC later on - just confirmed how scummy many Hearts fans are and HMFC being infected with factions of these scumbags who can't take being on the "back foot" in a "sea" of negativity and disappointment - an implosion many of them can't handle! The common factor in this disgrace is Tynecastle Stadium - deja vu and it is time the SFA scrutinised Hearts management of this stadium and ways to finally deal with the poison emanating from the home stands!!!

Your last line there hits the nail on the head, So much is made of the 'unique atmosphere' at Tynecastle, the closeness of the fans to the game but games like last night show how dangerous it can become when its not policed and stewarded properly.

No doubt about it some hibs fans behaviour last night was out of order too, and coupled with that poor old dear getting smacked with a bottle on sunday from the hertz fans its just not been a good example for the game in Edinburgh. Too many booze and coked up neds going about causing bother, I just wish they would GTF and let everyone else watch the games. The whole hassle of getting there, getting into the ground and back out safely was a total pain in the arse and i probably wont be back. I dont buy a ticket to spend much of the game looking out for coins being chucked in my vicinity.

As for the pooer wee hearts fans that didn't like it when the big bad man made fun of them? Get a xxxx grip.
