Mixed Feelings - bluepooch - 08-09-2018 Im not going to go overboard with the criticism today as I was very impressed with the commitment of the players ,who left everything out there today and were unlucky not to take the 3 points . However ,Dover were unbelieveably poor and will almost definitely be relegated .Allen still bigs up poor players whether this is deliberate or not we don't know but it does make him seem like a bad judge of a player .He thought Talbot did superbly well but I'm sorry I dont see this .all I've seen Drew do this season is hold his head in his hands frequently after making one bad pass after another .Ugwu is another who gets praise but continues to frustrate . Anyway we got a clean sheet which is always a good thing and we certainly aren't leaking goals ,that's 4 conceded in 5 games ,a good record. We just have to master the small matter of creating chances and scoring a goal. RE: Mixed Feelings - Devongone - 09-09-2018 490 minutes without scoring. Meanwhile Ricardo German netted his eighth of the season for Hendon. Big picture of him in the Non-League paper. I'd like to see a bit more muscular definition on him, but if he's fat ......... as many of our supposed supporters claimed ......... Well I can only think they got mixed up over their words. I think they meant he was black. It took our manager one day to release him - he must have received some really excellent advice there. I wonder if anyone's dared tell him yet. Poor old Gozie gets 4 out of 10 in the paper today - you usually have to get sent off or score two own goals to achieve that rating. A year out has clearly done him no good at all. Is Amantchi at 17 too young to start, or will we use the contracts available to enlist another forward and a midfielder? If Dover were unbelievably poor, still got a draw and we only managed four efforts on target ......... what's that say for us? At the moment, just as Forest Green are the only vegans, we seem to be the only team operating under Chaos Theory. A butterfly beats its wings over Beijing; we take off Maguire. Could it be because he's a nice, well-brought-up Catholic boy who is the least likely in the team to cause trouble? Get nasty son, kick a pop bottle, argue with a random fan, march straight down the tunnel without a backward glance at the manager holding out a limp hand. RE: Mixed Feelings - bluepooch - 09-09-2018 Get with it Dev it isn't black any more, its person of colour . Maguire didn't have a good game because he isn't a left back, another of Allen's mistakes ,however, defensively we aren't too bad , we just need to get the balance right between good attacking and good defending as a team and we will be Champions !. It said something about yesterday that Brad Barry wasn't the worst player .In fact I'd probably leave him in for the next game ,drop Talbot and bring Weir back . Also Forest Green Rovers fans liked to be known as "Eco-Friendly" not vegans as not all Forest Green Rovers fans will be vegans. RE: Mixed Feelings - Devongone - 10-09-2018 I've been to Nailsworth a lot: they are ALL vegans, unless they come across a wild boar in the forest and then it's bacon sandwiches all round. Dale Vince is a hippy anyway and should be in The Young Ones. And of course it is true everyone in the Forest of Dean is everyone else's aunt or uncle and the requisite number of fingers and toes is indeed a matter for debate. Person of colour only counts if you marry a member of the royal family .... or the Royle Family. Everything happens to Maguire - he has to play left back because we have a 49 year-old centre back who is too big to drop. Maguire gets dropped when we lose. He gets brought into positions he's rarely played. He becomes sub and is brought on like wherever. He plays centre back, plays well and isn't selected next game because the guy alongside him scored an own goal or something. Just play him centre back and let him settle down to becoming our next transfer fee. Oh and perlease don't start the stuff about he's not a left back. On Bobs whoever has played there since Dan Jones has not been a left back, as though it is a difficult position requiring some strange magical abilities. It IS the easiest position on the pitch. If you are just reasonably quick, and can avoid having a player like Jay O'Shea, who might go invisible for half the game, stationed in front of you and you are not actually physically afraid of tackling, it is a cinch. You've got so much space to go forward into and so much time to get everything under control it's easy. The most difficult thing is covering your centre back if he turns out to be a head case. If your winger is a bit quick, don't drop off him is all, give any idiot space and time to run at you and you'll be screwed ..... and anyone looks quick in those circumstances. I must admit I did think a lot of the anti-Ricky-German comment on Bob's was racist. They seemed to think he should have been eternally grateful to have been given one first team start and a few minutes several times scattered in between spells broadening his bum on the bench. I'm torn between being so delighted he's having such success and sickened that he's scored eight and we've managed nine so far this season. If he scores in the Cup replay tomorrow he'll be on level terms ..... I have several friends who are vegans and they are always trying to push it on to people who eat meat. I say to them if you want to be vegan that's your choice but don't ram it down other people's throats. RE: Mixed Feelings - Dancingwilldoit - 11-09-2018 Dev, you shouldn't upset "the forest people" they have regular effigy burnings and I have seen a few men turn to raving babbling idiots after an hour or so in their midst. Mmmmm Just how often do you visit? I lived in Cheltenham for 14 years, still have friends who live half their life at the top of a hill outside Nailsworth and the other half in Spain. We went to their gay wedding in the Nailsworth Quaker Meeting House. Used to visit the Forest of Dean a bit ....... Everyone in the great unitary metropolis of Cheltencester quietly giggles about the forest and makes politically incorrect comments about webbed toes etc. But then Cheltenham itself does have GCHQ - so secretive and secure they built it a huge doughnut shaped building unmissable from thousands and thousands of feet above. Now if everything there is so secret and secure and important would you really have painted TARGET all over it - X marks the spot? Could it be that everyone and everything that matters is somewhere else entirely? It isn't quite The Wicker Man down in the forest, but it makes well-dressing look a bit tame. Personally I'm more disturbed about Matt not being able to leave the table until he's eaten up all his scrumptious vegan burger and pale, white chips. Poor guy doesn't live all that far from League of Gentlemen territory, can't be long before the nose-bleed. RE: Mixed Feelings - Dancingwilldoit - 11-09-2018 Years ago I used to visit a large factory just outside Coleford. Everybody looked the same even the different sexes. Maybe it was a one world utopia. I was told there were less marriages and divorces there than anywhere in the UK, they just moved in then moved on. Don't know if it was true but I could believe it. RE: Mixed Feelings - Devongone - 11-09-2018 Dancing, Coleford is where they make Lucozade. Ribena too, which can kill any life-form with a single sip. The Forest of Dean is like an episode of The Avengers. You permanently expect to see Steed and Mrs Peel leaping from a sports car to investigate some crazed Professor of Cybernetics with world domination on his mind, who all the locals seem simply to have accepted in their midst. |
