World Cup Group tables (Round 1 scores) - bomberbrown1968 - 20-06-2018

With the first round of matches now behind us, the early frontrunners all had good rounds, but the fancied seed of the group is the one lagging behind at this early stage.

Group 1 is the only one to have an absentee as Sanjay didn’t turn up to the party, leaving 4 players to fight it out for the two qualifying places up for grabs.

Stairs sets the early pace with 9 correct predictions, 3 of which were correct scores, a correct Bonus in the opening game of the tournament and the only player earning an extra point gained on the new Score Ball.

Sitting just 4 points back in joint 2nd are Salop and St Charles who returned an identical set of scores, including a totally blank Sunday, but 3 out of 3 on Monday including their Bonus Balls with maximum points gained for them as Belgium got off to a winning start.

Our title winner from the domestic season, DD, brings up the rear for now, a full 10 points behind, summed up by drawing a blank in the final 3 games of the round.

It’s too early to write anybody off yet though as we head straight into round 2, in just a few hours.

Bomber

Some good consistent scoring in this group. Joker takes top spot so far, mainly due to being the only one who picked up points on the Gamball, he also got his extra point with the Score ball.

Zinman is just a few points behind, mainly due to the Gamball being incorrect.

Bit of a gap down to Matt, who failed to get any scores correct and Vicar, who failed on both the Gamball and Bonus, though there are plenty of points up for grabs still.

4eva brings up the rear, missing out on any points from any of his balls!!

Cheers
SCO

Impressive scoring from the first round of fixtures for Group 3 sees BBB heading the table - but as I suspect someone might remind us, it's a marathon not a sprint (except in this case it's probably more of a middle distance race, so no hanging back for too long, Beefy).

BBB's lead at this early stage is due to his 9 correct result predictions including his bonus.

Close in second place is Derby, equalling BBB's 3 correct scores and again scoring big on his bonus.

The changed scoring system damaged Quantum - the only player to get the gamball correct - and he was also the only one to gain from the new score ball.

Worldclass stays in contention just a point behind in 4th place.

And then comes Beefy, languishing far behind the rest with his recent promotion now just a fading memory.

Zin

A great start from Bomber who from 17 games, predicted correctly on 9 a decent Bonus Ball and our first score ball got Bomber to an impressive 21 points.

A good start for Amelia in 2nd place with 12 points two correct scores helping her to gatecrash the first runners up spot.

The other 3 will have some catching up to do, Snoots with 7 points lies third, Twerton with 5 points is in 4th and BaggieOne is bringing up the rear on just 3 points.

A long way to go yet with still 30 odd matches to go in the group stages and the last 16 fixtures makes that up to around 46 games still to predict on, just a few good results and I'm waiting for that first important correct Gamball to pop up that will make all the difference.

Beefy   Thumb up

Some good scoring in the first round of matches by quite a few!! Of course a few others have started slowly as usual, but this ain't a marathon this time!!

RE: World Cup Group tables (Round 1 scores) - Dingle-Dingle - 20-06-2018

Looking through my predictions I can see what went wrong. The other half offered to put my scores in for me. She has obviously transposed some results. I asked what match and she said xx v yy. So when she said England v Tunisia I said 3-0. Stupid Cow. DD Doh Doh

So on that basis you should be challenging at the top of your group by about October.

I think you need to rethink your plans.

By my calculations there are still around 45 games to predict that's the equivalent of almost 5 weeks of predictions as a rule,
So plenty of time , stop clutching at straws, you just know I'll qualify in the end Tongue
