Exeter vs WBA - FA Cup Third Round Match Thread - Ska'dForLife-WBA - 05-01-2018 With the league treating us as badly as it ever has, Albion go in search of that elusive, long-awaited win this weekend in the FA Cup down in Devon. Of course, there's no guarantee that we'll be turning the corner even now; if Exeter, hovering around the playoffs in League Two, want to pull off a cup upset this year then they won't have a finer chance. Albion are absolutely on the floor after a knockout blow at West Ham on Tuesday, and our cup performances in general have been awful for years on end. Still, if nothing else, this match should give Pardew half a chance to assess some of the peripheral players like Leko in action, and may give him some much-needed inspiration. We can only hope. For Albion fans of a certain age, this fixture inevitably brings back memories of a cold Devon night twenty-five years ago, when Exeter fans with their team 2-0 up elected to taunt the travelling Baggies with chants of "You're not famous anymore". Cue one of the great Albion comebacks of all time. RE: Exeter vs WBA - FA Cup Third Round Match Thread - Dingle-Dingle - 05-01-2018 Pardew says he`s putting out a STRONG team........ I didn`t think we had one of those. Maybe all eleven new overnight record signings will turn out. Vic, I'd go with Heggs with the first and the weird celebration with SuperBob, Gary Hackett with the second and Hamilton from the spot. I also remember being 3 nil down and winning 4-3 vaguely ![]() RE: Exeter vs WBA - FA Cup Third Round Match Thread - drewks - 05-01-2018 .....that certainly was a unique goal celebration for the first goal! ![]() ![]() Make that 25 years ago, Ska'd ![]() We've just GOT to win this one. Happy memories of St James' Park, including this match and being told to eff off by one of their players (ex Arsenal and England?) - fair enough as I had been "teasing" him about how far he'd fallen. I've been debating this one with myself and I think I would. Good question - if TP was still here I would take an FA Cup win and Championship Football in a heartbeat. But be the optimist that I am, we now have Alan’s pardew and I believe he can turn this around and next season could be the first time we will have a quality squad and someone who knows what to do with it. I want to have a good FA Cup run for confidence boost but stay in the Premier League. |
