Southampton vs WBA - Match Thread - Ska'dForLife-WBA - 19-10-2017 Southampton keeper Ian Black keeps Albion at bay, the Dell, 23rd April 1949
After another frustrating draw from a winning position on Monday night, Albion continue their futile search for victory on Saturday evening with a trip to Southampton, again televised. At time of writing we remain, by some peculiar miracle, in the top half of the Premier League, but that'll almost certainly change by kick-off. There's a slippery slope opening up beneath us, and we'd do well to steer clear of it while we can. The re-introduction of Nacer Chadli at Leicester gave us a spot of quality we've missed, but there's not much to shout about on the attacking front otherwise. Too many times, players opt for the safe option rather than backing themselves to make a forward pass or a cross into the box, and with so few chances it's no real surprise that we end up reliant on set-pieces to score. It's got to change if we're to move up the table. Southampton have had their own difficulties of late, so with luck we might just catch them napping and repeat last year's shock win. Anyone for a HRK wonder-strike? RE: Southampton vs WBA - Match Thread - drewks - 19-10-2017 I'm available to play in goal, Tone - I played there a bit at school, and I'll try v v 'ard........ Still waiting for this 'something different ' that TP has mentioned a couple of times. My guess is that he's gonna chance it and get our midfield to actually cross the halfway line ....IN OPEN PLAY. Now wouldn't that be something?? If so - going for 2-1 to us RE: Southampton vs WBA - Match Thread - WBA-Josh - 19-10-2017 (19-10-2017, 14:58)drewks Wrote: I'm available to play in goal, Tone - I played there a bit at school, and I'll try v v 'ard........ The idea that our midfield should cross the half way line is pure witchcraft Drewks. Off to the stake with you. ![]() RE: Southampton vs WBA - Match Thread - Sir Megson - 19-10-2017 Not really that worried about Southampton and fancy us to shock a few Saturday (and by that I don't mean manage more than just the one shot on target!) Still early days in the season but the only decent performance I remember was them keeping Man U honest so far this season. A month before that game they were put out of the League cup by Wolves second XI, so they've definitely got a poor performance in them at home. Line up wise for this one we have to start whichever keeper is 100% fit, very much hoping it will be Foster and he was rested more so as a precaution but will welcome either Myhill (as long as it's not Derby-InTheCup-Myhill) and Palmer. Using the lineup we started against Leicester, I'd rotate and swap Hegazi out, move Dawson to centre and have Nyom right back. He and Gibbs on the wings could be very useful! Livermore swapped for Brunt and Rodriguez dropped for Phillips, keep Jay fresh to come off the bench later on for Rondon. So.... a 4-4-1-1 Keeper Gibbs Evans Dawson Nyom Brunt Krychowiak Barry Phillips Chadli Rondon Really need a result to get our season moving now - otherwise we could well be in for a nail biter hanging just above the relegation zone over the next month. Please Albion... the three points on Saturday would do very nicely! COYB! Due to cost savings we've had to combine Gareth Barry & Matty Phillips into one player, thus only paying one wage as a result. Bloody FFP regulations! ![]() RE: Southampton vs WBA - Match Thread - Beefy 1965 - 19-10-2017 Why we all panicking It's only Man City next week ![]() RE: Southampton vs WBA - Match Thread - TheFunkyJoker - 20-10-2017 (19-10-2017, 22:47)Beefy 1965 Wrote: Why we all panicking As we've done quite poorly recently, we'll probably end up beating City ![]() ![]() RE: Southampton vs WBA - Match Thread - Beefy 1965 - 20-10-2017 (20-10-2017, 01:52)TheFunkyJoker Wrote:(19-10-2017, 22:47)Beefy 1965 Wrote: Why we all panicking You really need to be locked up again mate, You have been away to long ![]() RE: Southampton vs WBA - Match Thread - talkSAFT - 20-10-2017 (19-10-2017, 20:02)Sir Megson Wrote: Keeper Assume you're writing left to right, not a bad line-up. But I'd prefer fit again GaryMac to Dawson, who stays RB. And JR upfront (Rondon out), eager to impress at his old Club. |
