Hibs v Aberdeen:, Sat 14 October, KO 3.00pm - 0762 - 09-10-2017

Well it's back to Premiership business after another disappointing Scotland World Cup campaign when many of us had our positive hopes and cautious optimism dashed again but we are becoming accustomed to this kinda 'kick in the teeth' more n more and we move on in hope that further improvement with new players/changes can be engendered through time. It looks like this match v the Dons will be close to a 'sell out' with only South Stand tickets remaining.
The Dons are playing well and we'll see if Hibs 'raise their game' again after a two week break although the Dons will definitely present a stiff test. I think Lenny will have to carefully consider his midfield options for this game because that is the area of the pitch where this game will be won or lost. We wanna overhaul Aberdeen in this area and give ourselves a platform to attack them with real venom and 'with a point to prove' re how close we are to their status as Celtic's closest challenger.

Very close to a full house.

A similar performance to parkhead and we would have a real chance of 3 points. But this is going to be tough, aberdeen are a good side.

Tough game and this one may actually say more about where you are than the Celtic game did. If you are to challenge for one of those Europa League spots then beating Aberdeen at home is a key fixture for you to win.

Aye! This is actually the first of three upcoming fixtures (the Dons at ER, the Hoops in the Betfred Cup semi-final at Hampden and Hertz at ER) that could define Hibs season in a 10 day period. The challenge is there to win them all but IMO that will be a 'tall order' TBF! 2 wins would be 'good going' and only 1 win would be a poor return based on our positive aspirations for this season. As usual, injuries could well play a big part in deciding how we fare much like the position that Scotland and Strachan became restricted with but just had to get on with it. Lets hope we don't incur any injuries and also that the likes of Darren Mac recovers and competes for a place in these matches.

A good win and by all counts good performance by Rangers tonight puts a little more pressure on both teams in this game to try to get all three points!!

Saint Johnstone lost a player, Anderson, sent off in the second half and that was the 'pivotal moment' in this match in which they looked like they were pushing for an equalising goal at 0-1. I'll never figure how some teams can implode like this while others are organised to 'hold firm' - poss down to having a more astute manager and poss having better players than other teams.

Disappointing today, there really wasn't much between the sides but aberdeen were very 'streetwise' when they got their noses in front and the ref let them off with some shockingly cynical challenges - the one from may looked a red card from where I was.

As much as stokes ran his socks off today I think Boyle is better out wide and Murray should have been off sooner. Aberdeen were solid but unspectacular, they played with 6 at the back 2nd half at points. That said mackay Steven had a decent match and ended up scoring the winner from the one real lapse at the back.

We need to get a win or two in the league asap. The league cup game takes care of itself really, just go out and have a right go at them.

Aye, disappointing sums it up - some of the decision-making by certain Hibs players in the 'final third' not good enough IMO and that's the reason we didn't score any goals today. Not enough guile attached to some players and therefore that lack of quality definitely missing! Stokes particularly 'kopped out' of some great scoring positions when choosing to pass rather then do what he's good at - taking the responsibility and scoring goals! Paul Hanlon was majestic in this match and it was encouraging to see that Hibs are getting closer to Aberdeen's level of performance in this top league but we need to find consistent form and positive results to match up. I never expected Hibs to win this home match TBF and that pessimism was based on Hibs previous abysmal league record v the Dons before relegation and yet our cup record in recent times v the same opponents is very good. Also worth mentioning a 19k+ crowd and Hibs really have to win these kinda matches to keep the 'extra numbers of hibees' interested - gotta earn that 'respect! Thankfully no great injury concerns recorded and we move on to a more challenging cup semi-final v the Hoops. Here's hoping Hibs 'show up' v record unbeaten opponents and 'give them a game'. Maybe that record will be 'busted' this time after Hibs being foiled recently in the last 10 mins at Celtic Park!

I don't think aberdeen created much either,it wasn't a bad performance from hibs just as you say a bit lacking in the final third in terms of the right run and the right ball. I seen nothing from the sheep to suggest there is much between the sides at all.

Surprised you make no mention of mclean's performance. He seemed quite happy to allow aberdeen to boot the xxxx out of anything in green.

The next 2 league games with hertz and kilmarnock will determine our start to the season.

Re a poor referee McLean, I've previously mentioned that he is one of the 'iffy refs' of Scottish footie and yet he was the SFA assigned ref in our historic, victorious Scottish Cup final v Rangers! Still renowned for that awful dismissed pk/red card and clear 'arm baw' by ICT's Meekings in the Scot Cup semi-final of 2014 (ICT v Celtic) - he had a clear view of that incident from 6 metres and no response from him or two other well-placed ARs - highly suspicious in terms of being a 'match fix'!! IMO a very poor and inconsistent referee who also lacks proper authority! My apathy prevails these days when observing guys like McLean and there are others like him!
