Huddersfield Town v Tottenham Hotspur - WakeyTerrier - 27-09-2017 This weekend HTAFC host Spurs, and the lunchtime KO also signals a first for me...it'll be the first time I've seen Town take on Tottenham any any fixture, infact you have to go all the way back to 1972 for the last time these two teams met when they faced each other in the League cup (6/09/1972) and I wasn't even thought of way back then! Spurs have a decent history in football although nothing in the Trophy cabinet since the League Cup win back in 2007/8. Going back further they have 2 Old First division titles,8 FA Cup wins, 4 League Cup wins,7 Charity Shield wins, 1 UEFA Cup Winners Cup and 2 UEFA Cup...so still one League title behind the Mighty Mighty Terriers Despite Spurs having a midweek trip to Apoel Nicosia on Tuesday where they won 0-3 thanks to a Kane hat trick, They are expected to name a strong team to face the Terriers this weekend. Last weekends line up at West Ham had experience in abundance with just the 516 International Caps between the starting XI although the Ivory Coast international Aurier will be missing having been sent during Spurs 3-2 win at the London Stadium So what can we expect from Spurs and who are the danger men, I'd say all of them ![]() ![]() Harry Kane will be one Schindler and Zanka will have to keep a close eye on, amazingly Kane has 108gls in just 173appearances(wiki) for Spurs and a further 10goals in just 21 England international but let's hope he does as he did for England at the Euros and disappears without a trace for a 90mins ![]() Midfield- Dele Alii, for me the brightest prospect in English football right now. The Town midfield and defence will have there work cut out keeping this lad quiet plus he was suspended for the European tie so should be back in the team on Saturday ![]() Defence - Jan Vertonghen, capped 95 times for Belgium ![]() Goalkeeper-Hugo Lloris, World class goalie and Spurs club captain. Capped 92 times by France. Everywhere you look they have top class quality! Town Team News. Williams is out with a broken bone in his foot, Mounié still a concern with his heel? Apart from that I think we're OK Ticket News Sold out signs went up about 10days ago, if you have a previous booking history keep checking the Terrier Exchange..you never know your luck Wakey's Match Prediction. I'm afraid I fear a battering in this one, Town haven't let us down this season but this is a big step up in quality It's with a heavy heart I say 0-3 to Spurs Having said that, I'm not bothered it's the like of Palace,Burnley,Brighton we need the points against and anything against the top 6 clubs is a bonus. RE: Huddersfield Town v Tottenham Hotspur - Lord Snooty - 27-09-2017 Nice one, Wakey. ![]() I could've sworn we'd played Spurs since then. I would've said that League Cup match was later than that. Thought we were in the 3rd or 4th division at the time, but no, I stand corrected. I also have never seen us play Spurs, at 1st team level anyway. I did go to the Youth Cup semi final in the 70s when a young Glenn Hoddle turned out for them. He wasn't famous then though. ![]() RE: Huddersfield Town v Tottenham Hotspur - Lord Snooty - 27-09-2017 Referee for this one. Mr Neil Swarbrick. Last Town match he reffed? The Play Off Final v Reading. RE: Huddersfield Town v Tottenham Hotspur - theo_luddite - 27-09-2017 Nice one Mr. Wakey. Any chance of some inside knowledge from the former Duchess of Railway Cuttings, East Cheam, aka Mitzi on this? Her former gaff ain't that far from Tottingham or Wemberlee compared to the Broad Acres of Yorkshire. Good spot M'lud, had seen the same myself about the blind mouse with the whistle. We can but hope that the midweek jaunt to the back end of beyond (a day or so in Cyprus was it?) leaves the poor Larndan Tarn dears exhausted and bedraggled. Tis a pitty we are playing them at home while they still can't get their heads around playing at Wemberlee. RE: Huddersfield Town v Tottenham Hotspur - sloppyattheback - 27-09-2017 Last time we faced Harry kane playing for orient he wasnt up to much, hope that trend continues.. I can sadly see a spanking to nil, offesively they will punish anything we dont well across the back, a point would be incredible to hope for. Really looking forward to it, Spurs a team , like Liverpool, Man U & Cov of all teams I've not come across in my time home or away. RE: Huddersfield Town v Tottenham Hotspur - Lord Snooty - 27-09-2017 Did you know.......? One of Harry Kane's first games was at the John Smith's Stadium when he was on loan at Leyton Orient. It was 2011, he came on as a sub, scored a goal and got sent off. On that day he was up against Captain Clarktastic and BoomBoom McCombe. The match ended 2-2. RE: Huddersfield Town v Tottenham Hotspur - Lord Snooty - 28-09-2017 Spurs have said Christian Eriksen is fit and available again for Saturday. Dembele, Lamela, Rose and Wanyama all injured. RE: Huddersfield Town v Tottenham Hotspur - jjamez - 28-09-2017 Don't think it really matters snoots! Theres probably two maybe three of our players that could be squad players for them. Their back ups are probably all good enough to be key players for us. Saturday will be our first taste of the real premier league and how much class they have. Although newcastle were doing alright until jonjo went stampy RE: Huddersfield Town v Tottenham Hotspur - St Charles Owl - 29-09-2017 This is not a game that will determine your season, games against teams outside the top 6 are where the final positions are decided. For that reason, no pressure on you guys, just go out and enjoy the game. RE: Huddersfield Town v Tottenham Hotspur - WakeyTerrier - 29-09-2017 Mitzi lived sarf of the river so Tottingham is definitely not her old stomping ground. Aside from that she is currently away sampling the delights of the Ukraine (Kiev today, Chernobyl tomorrow of all places). Absolutely no pressure. On Town as far as I'm concerned, I think most supporters know we're going to lose on Saturday. It'll be the manner of the defeat I'll be looking at, if we go out there and give it a go but get undone by quality then so be it..we won't be the first or last team that Spurs destroy. If our lads come off that pitch having given 100% then no complaints from me. |
