RE: Asia Trophy - Baggievicar - 18-07-2017

Looks as if the players may need snorkels, judging by what I've seen of the weather.

RE: Asia Trophy - Salopbaggie - 19-07-2017

Our two new signings looking really good so far.

WOW J.R............. dig that one out the back of the net> Smile Smile Smile http://www.skysports.com/football/news/11698/10953805/watch-jay-rodriguez-scores-stunner-for-west-brom-in-pl-asia-trophy

Phillips looking back to himself Smile

Here we go 11 mins in 1-0 up 11 men behind the ball Sad Smile

Half time and pretty much as suspected from a friendly, we started with the stronger team on paper:

Foster, Nyom, Yacob, Evans, Livermore, Rondon, Phillips, Brunt, Rodriguez, Dawson, Hegiza.
Subs: Myhill, Robson-Kanu, McClean, Chadli, Harper, Roberts, Leko, Field, Wilson, O'Shea, Melbourne.
with Leicester bring some big guns on just before half time.  Our biggest problem at the moment is the ball down the centre, not down to the pace of the CB, just the accuracy of the pass, so down to position.

JR started well with a great strike, see above, though that was about it, you could have been forgiven for forgetting he was on the pitch after that in the first half.    Hegazi looks really promising, he dropped a feww boo boo's but, more than made up for it in his overall performance.  On first look, very promising.  Sadly Brunt whom I rate highly did not seem to be with it today, not even his crosses going where he wanted, second to every ball and generally just not with it, not like Brunt at all.  Dawson, at a guess looked a little miffed to still be playing RB, while Nyom started playing in midfield, despite the fact he was playing LB, that did not last long and he held up Mahrez as well as anyone can, Mahrez had an awesome game ands will be the first name in my fantasy team this year.  Yac was Yac, solid, Phillip showed the attacking flair of last year Livermore did he play in the first half. Rondon was his normal workhorse self.

On to the second half Leicester Change their team all bar one, we start with the same 11 who started the 1st

50 mins in Sam Field on for Brunt and McClean for Rodriguez
55 min Chadli, Robson-Kanu and Leko on for Yacob, Phillips and Rondon.

Little else so far

Players looking tired now (both teams) 66 min

66 mins Wilson for Hegazi (good sort of debut)
70 min Harper on for

Still nothing worth mentioning

75 Harper on for Livermore

That's it second half which was a training session, so its off to ABBA penalties (Team a starts, then team b, then team b again followed by team a: repeat until golden brown then serve with a place in the final Smile Leicester having by far the stranger team now

Lost on penalties, Sam Field with the miss.

RE: Asia Trophy - Beefy 1965 - 19-07-2017

That was a really good work out ...
Two new signings both make a immediate impact,
J Rod great goal,
Hegazi
Considering this was his first game with his team mates wea superb with Evans can only get better
Didnt look slow used both feet, and won almost everything in the Air
good signs indeed Thumb up

RE: Asia Trophy - 4evaabaggie - 19-07-2017

Our disappointing results of last season continue ..... played two lost two ..... scored first both times.

Our great recent cup runs continue ..... played lost out.

I know it was only a bit of silverware presented by Walt Disney, a Mickey mouse cup, but still nice to win and to win in pre season.

Did not watch the game ........ marks out of ten anyone.

When do we play the last place playoff.

RE: Asia Trophy - 4evaabaggie - 19-07-2017

Beefy, not a doom merchant, I can only go on the results, I was hoping for a review from people that watched it. We are still a work in progress, very thin squad which may have contributed to last season's collapse, recent transfer windows do not fill one with hope but always overflowing with optimistic intent come the start of the season.

Would love all our dealings done, the squad bonding and hit pre-season running ....... form carried forwarded to May.

Too much to ask .......... ?

Beefy, just read the report on your link, sounds promising although still need big influx of fist steamers.

Should read first teamers .... not sure what fist steamers are but sounds painful

The Baggies drew 1-1 with Leicester in Hong Kong, but lost the semi-final on penalties and now play Crystal Palace on Saturday in a third-placed play-off.

Pulis, though, was pleased with how his players coped with the humid conditions after a gruelling training schedule.

“We overload our players enormously in the first two weeks,” he said. “The lads have done a morning, an afternoon, and an evening session.

“We do two weeks of overloading and then we cut back and get a lot of short sharp stuff in.

“The first two weeks are important, so you get the strength into their legs so they don’t pick up muscular injuries.

“We played in very difficult conditions with the humidity and we got all the players through, so we’re pleased.”

The Baggies boss only had three senior outfield players on his bench, including Nacer Chadli, who refused to go to Austria.

Pulis is keen to sign 'three or four' more players before the transfer window shuts, but admitted that the squad was not going to swell much beyond that.

“They [Leicester] are bringing on multi-million pound players," said Pulis. "We’re bringing on young kids. But that’s West Brom.

“We’re hoping to get three or four more added to the squad, they’re going to be three or four players we hope that are better than what we’ve got so we improve it.

“But we won’t and we can’t get an enormous squad of players.”

3 or 4 is fine as long as they improve our first team
Fingers crossed !!!!!!
