Final Table for 2017 - Devongone - 06-07-2016

How's this look for a final table in May 2017:-

Sheffield Utd
Millwall
Charlton
MK Dons
Bradford City
Bolton
Coventry
Oxford Utd
Peterborough
Scunthorpe
Bristol Rovers
Walsall
Northampton
Gillingham
AFC Wimbledon
Rochdale
Chesterfield
Fleetwood
Shrewsbury
Southend
Swindon
Bury
Port Vale
Oldham

It's just the order they are currently in on Oddschecker that combines and lists all the bookies odds. Our shortest price to win the league is 33/1 and longest 50/1. The Blades are hovering around 6/1, Oldham are lodged on 66/1.
If you want our 50/1 you can get it at William Hill.

The bookies are usually pretty accurate but they are the same people who offered 5000/1 against Leicester.

My current good bet would be Port Vale only because they signed 8 players in 2 days, all experienced but unknown over here. Their rating might be accurate because they'll take time to adjust ...... but if they were to click ........

My worst bet would be Northampton at around 25/1, won Division 2 but lost their manager and maybe their mojo?

But what do I know?

As you know Dev Im cup half full where town are concerned and im thinking we will finish a little higher .

I honestly believe we will finish a lot higher. If not in the playoffs then very close. There is no way I can see Wimbledon and Northampton finishing above us.

Personally, Dev, I`m inclined to agree with Pooch and Dancing on this one. If we can keep everybody fit for most of the season - and we all know that IF is the longest word in the English language - I think we ought to be aiming for top half of the table this year. Having said that, I am sure you`re all aware how much I know about this daft game.

As Paul Daniels would have said; `not a lot`.

RE: Final Table for 2017 - St Charles Owl - 06-07-2016

The bookies have had the Blunts as favorite for the past 4-5 seasons and yet they are still in League one, thats all you need to know about their ability to get it right at this time of the season!!

I reckon we will finish about 12th-14th. Be great if we got playoffs or got promotion but I can't see it with all the other teams who have come into L1. L1 next season is going to be very tough.

RE: Final Table for 2017 - Devongone - 07-07-2016

There is a reason there are so many bookies and you do have to remember their odds reflect the opinion of the gambling public. If everyone in Chesterfield took advantage of William Hill's 50/1 against us it wouldn't be 50/1 for very long.

We are actually fourth favourites for relegation at the moment on "relegation" lists.

I expect Wimbledon, Northampton and Oldham to struggle. There might be ructions at Southend that affect their playing side and manager. The EU team Port Vale are brexiting in might fly, but if they struggle to adapt, it might mean a managerial sacking and a race to the bottom.

You could lose a lot waiting for The Blades to become a good bet. Wilder doesn't seem to have two managerial good seasons together and men who get to manage their dream team often seem to achieve a nightmare. But they must improve without Marmalade Adkins, mustn't they?

MK Dons, Bradford, Bolton, Oxford, Scunthorpe and Walsall in my opinion all have issues which alongside their expectations of doing quite well might lead in the absolute opposite direction.

Me, I'm Pooch's cowardly cousin. I'd settle for 20th big time. I'm still scared that issues off-field can have an impact on a good man's ability to manage and our team's capacity to achieve. I'd like to know what kind of keeper will start the season for us. I'd like to know about Danny's centre back thoughts. I'd like to know if Angel is as good as he looked in the three games he managed. I'd like to know if Gboly will still be with us ......... And what happens if Ched makes the team and the case turns into an Oscar Pistorius? But most of all I'd like to know that the club's vision was to challenge for the Championship. I could handle us never getting there and realise succeeding might even be a poisoned chalice, but I'd like to think we really want up and not down as much as you lovely optimists on here.

And Dancing, that's why you have your own business, deep down you are an optimist. And I wouldn't knock that.

Angel out. Needs another op. Midfield looks a bit thin but Liddle Nolan Banks Gbolly O'shea Gardner with O'neill on his way back soon we should be able to find 4. I have a strange feeling this season could be the season of Ollie Banks. He put in some good performances last season and with the gentle hand of Danny Wilson up his backside he could be our 1 to watch.

Still need 2 keepers or we could take it in turns each week by having a raffle and the winner gets to play in net.
