The Boleyn ground - give us a break - BaggieSteve - 10-05-2016

Is it only me or others getting hacked of at the media wall to wall love in for West Ham's last game at the Boleyn ground? I know it means a huge amount to their fans but I suspect it means bugger all to nearly all of the fans of the other 91 clubs. However, to judge by the sports and non sports coverage today, you'd think this was a major topic of conversation in the football world and society in general. I'm sure when Bolton left Burnden Park, when Huddersfield left Leeds Road and when Derby left the Baseball Ground it meant as much to their fans but I don't quite recall this level of national coverage. It wouldn't be so bad if WHU had not been the beneficiary of an outrageous deal that takes them to the Olympic stadium for basically sod all, with all the future benefits it will clearly bring them. David Sullivan and the Gold brothers, fine bunch of lads.

Corrupt deal sanctioned by ............. can't say it for fear of legal action. But the public are basically paying for another london club to get richer and move out of reach of normal clubs by building and then converting the Olympic stadium for football use. Glad to know the London northwest league will benefit ..... surprised sky sports and the FA have not made it a condition of entry that to be in the premier league you must be either in a London postcode or from the northwest.

Hopefully the investigation into records following the acquisition of the new ground will add some transparency, otherwise some may follow in the footsteps of the grounds famous predecessor and "heads will roll".

Been thinking this myself, to be honest. If they did it for every club who switched stadium then fair enough, but they really don't.

In general terms I quite like the Hammers, but given all this fawning over their move I can't help feeling it would be hilarious if they went down next year. See how many season ticket holders there would be for the championship.

I had to turn Talk Sport of today it was all about West Ham and famous European nights,
It's a wonder they didn't bring up that they won the World cup in 1966
IT WAS THAT BAD !!!!!!! Angry

I also hear the rent on the stadium is just £2.5 Million a year when they are guaranteed at least £100 million from just being int the premier League but more astounding is that the Tax Payer is picking up all the policing costs for Match Day !! WTF

It's no coincidence they they are just to announce a record signing as soon as the season ends why don't we all just club together and cover all there transfers why we are at it.............
It seems they are given everything else Doh Angry

I constantly get sick of hearing about West Ham and that's even before the whole Boleyn ground business. Listening to 606 on the way home after matches.... if I hear that it's not the West Ham way one more time ... there's always a whining Hammer on there!

And since when did they go back to calling it the Boleyn ground? It's been Upton Park for ages.

Yes Upton Park! I've been wondering about that as well!

I like West Ham, mostly, but am miffed at the London Club thing as they certainly will have a huge advantage now. They will attract quality players wanting London life style etc.

Almost certain to be a big team for decades now.

Ahhh
But here's the best.
Kick off V Man Utd delayed until 8.30pm.
Why ?
The Man Utd team Bus was attacked By West Ham Fans ,
Bottles , Bricks thrown , people Injured........
So what's going to happen to our Media and F.A darlings now Whistle

Even better when West Ham owner Sullivan claimed
"I don't know why the coach is late, it wasn't attacked , I bet when you see the coach there is nothing wrong with it "
Why would he say that Doh
Why indeed especially as sky has just received video footage of the attack and report there are 9 double glazed windows smashed and the Drivers window has been completely caved in with the driver visibly shaken and on the way to hospital ........
Well done Mr Sullivan Thumb down
You are what you are .............
Now how about sanctions ?
This can not be allowed to happen surely ?
So how about playing your first game at the Olympic Stadium behind closed doors ?
Hang on this is West Ham..............
So a 50 grand fine it is then with a warning into future conduct Sick

He's trying to reckon it's fans of other clubs!
