The celebrity cull of 2016 - Amelia Chaffinch - 21-04-2016 Well, that's what it feels like. We started with the shock death of David Bowie in January. Since then we have said goodbye to Alan Rickman, Glenn Frey, Terry Wogan, Frank Kelly aka Father Jack, Paul Daniels, Ronnie Corbett and, only yesterday, Victoria Wood followed by Prince today. I can't say I am a huge fan of Prince but what the hell is going on? It's as if God has decided there are too many celebrities and he's getting rid of a few. ![]() ![]() ![]() Are there any of these that you will miss? Dare I ask.... who next? ![]() I was really stunned by Alan Rickman and Victoria Wood. Victoria Wood in particular is a great loss to our screens. Thankfully, there is plenty of material to rerun in tribute to her. I could listen to the Ballad of Barry and Freda time and again. RE: The celebrity cull of 2016 - Lord Snooty - 21-04-2016 It's gotta be Bruce next. No not Steve.... Forsyth. Oh hang on a minute. Steve is a big fat unhealthy bugger. RE: The celebrity cull of 2016 - St Charles Owl - 21-04-2016 Shocked at Prince but more shocked about Victoria Wood, didn't know she had died until I read this!!!! The other thing is how young most of these were when they died. We could have expected Ronnie Corbett seeing his age, but Alan Rickman, Bowie, Prince and Victoria Wood were all relatively young by todays standards!!! As for next, wouldn't really speculate on someones death but you have to imagine one of the Rolling Stones will be on this list at some point!!! RE: The celebrity cull of 2016 - Amelia Chaffinch - 21-04-2016 I know shock is a strong word but it really is. RE: The celebrity cull of 2016 - WakeyTerrier - 22-04-2016 Trouble here is we are all getting older and the people we grew up watching on the tele and listening on the radio are getting even older and aside from tax the only other certainty in life is death. RE: The celebrity cull of 2016 - SHEP_HTAFC - 22-04-2016 Of all those that have died this year, none of them had been active in their chosen field for the last few years. They were all 'spent' when it came to their talents. I'm sorry for all their deaths, but we really shouldn't be mourning them. They all had their day years ago. RE: The celebrity cull of 2016 - theo_luddite - 22-04-2016 It seems the big fella is planning one helluva hootenanny for himself for New Years Eve - just leave Jools alone ya big plank. RE: The celebrity cull of 2016 - MNTerrier - 22-04-2016 guy hamilton too ( director) and Doris Roberts ( actress mainly in US ) you should see some of the photos of Minneapolis last night, huge dance party in honor of prince, pretty much closed down the city centre RE: The celebrity cull of 2016 - JUSTASILLYOLDGIT - 22-04-2016 Can we wrap David Attenborough up in cotton wool please! RE: The celebrity cull of 2016 - theo_luddite - 22-04-2016 As Jimmy Cricket used to say .... Come 'ere - there's more Actually he still does - just checked, phew. |
