Terriers v t'Owls match thread - Lord Snooty - 26-03-2016

Huddersfield Town v Sheffield Wednesday
The Sky Bet Championship
Saturday April 2nd - 15:00 ko
at The John Smith's Stadium

David Wagner's Barmy Army welcome t'Owls to the John Smith's Stadium on Saturday afternoon. A match that would've been more suited to being played in front of a huge bank holiday crowd on Easter Monday, but due to an inappropriately placed international break it will be played on the Saturday after Easter. The international break however, has allowed us all a wee break from watching our beloved football team and therefore myself and Amelia are offski up to Edinburgh for a few days, which is the reason why I'm posting this a few days early.

So Town, of course, are now the Champions of Europe, having secured that title last week by coming from 4-0 down on aggregate to beat Leeds on away goals at Bellend Road. A performance that has got us all dreaming of the good times ahead.
The Wendys are already in that dreamland, having somehow managed to get themselves into the top six. They come to the John Smith's on Saturday to have those dreams shattered by the mighty Terriers.

A brief history of Sheffield Wednesday: They started life as a cricket club in 1820, playing their matches on a Wednesday, and didn't actually start life as a football club until 1868.
They turned professional in 1889 and played their matches at Bramall Lane. Not much longer and they would be First Division champions, winning the title in 1902/03 and then again in 1903/04. And then they went and won it again in 1928/29, following the next season again with the title in 1929/30.
They'll never win three in a row!

And apart from three FA Cups (1896, 1907, 1935) and one League Cup (1991), they've never won f*** all.

Head to head

Town lead in the overall head to head with 24 wins to Wendy's 17, with 12 draws.

The match earlier this season was the first one that David Wagner took charge of the Terriers and was a sign of things to come over the next few weeks, with Town dominating, wasting chances, taking the lead and then blowing it with a disturbing lack of fitness in the last quarter of an hour. Town took the lead in the 53rd minute through Sean Scannell, but late goals from Lucas Joao (2) and Kieran Lee gave t' Owls an undeserved victory.
Last season at Hillsborough, Wendy thought they had won with a late goal from Sergiu Bus but then they let big Ishmael Miller score in the 89th to earn us a draw. The match at our place was a particularly dull 0-0 draw, shown live on Sky, which is why they never come here any more.
We had a memorable victory on Sky at theirs the year before, when Martin Paterson and Adam Clayton both scored, giving us this famous celebration.

So what's new at Hillsborough?

Managed by Carlos Carvalhal these days, a Portuguese bloke with more clubs to his name than Peter Stringfellow, none of them worth mentioning which is probably why when he got the job, we all said, WHO?" Unlike our own manager, who we'd all known about since he was a young 'un at Geinsheim Kindergarten.

Notable players in their squad are:- that cheating twat Fernando Foristieri, that jumped up little rhyming slang Jack Hunt, a Portuguese bean pole called Lucas Joao and the former Southend United striker Gary Hooper.
Their skipper is a Dutch defender called Glenn Loovens and the vice captain is Tom Lees who has already scored a cracker of a goal at the John Smith's, an own goal whilst playing for Leeds. Lol!
In goal is former Carlisle Utd keeper Kieren Westwood. Also likely to be in the line up are Sam Hutchinson, Daniel Pudil (on loan from Watford), Ross Wallace and ten foot tall Atdhe Nuhiu.

apparently sarcasm doesnt translate well, and he was calling Forestieri a cheat, which is more a statement of fact than an opinion

RE: Terriers v t'Owls match thread - Lord Snooty - 27-03-2016

Haha. You are funny, imre.  Smile

RE: Terriers v t'Owls match thread - Jacko The Flopsy Piglet - 27-03-2016

To be fair calling someone names has no basis in law and can hardly be called a "fact".

FF does get knocked over by bigger boys a lot though and they really ought to know better. He's gonna score anyway so you might as well just let him get on with it!

Imre, I have deleted the above posts. Your responses are disproportionate. Just stop it off. Even SCO accepts the term wendies is ok. I think you have a nerve complaining about this when you call us the village or village idiots week after week. You have absolutely nothing to complain about. Forestieri was disciplined for diving when he was with Watford and played against us. The world does not revolve around Sheffield Wednesday. Jack Hunt blotted his copybook with us way before he played for you. You are determined to be nasty because of that little incident many moons ago. Leave it now.

We dont need to make any changes i dont think. We have options to boot on the bench.

Could be a good game
