WBA vs Crystal Palace - Match Thread - Ska'dForLife-WBA - 25-02-2016

The goal that was sixteen years in the making; Albion vs Crystal Palace, 21st April 2002
After nearly a month on the road, Albion return for a home fixture for the first time since the last-gasp draw against Swansea. Eight points separate us from the magic number, and the sooner we cover that ground, the better for all concerned. Last week's awful cup exit, as we know, led to some seriously bellendrical behaviour from one or two folks who are maybe better off leaving football to the grown-ups in future. It's good to see the positive response from our fans as a whole in the aftermath of that, even if I am a bit concerned about just how far the new Bruntomania initiatives are going to go this Saturday (I'm half-expecting to get to the ground and find a giant inflatable Brunty flying over the stadium, with Halfords Lane now renamed the Chris Brunt Expressway). Seriously though, do show your support for the bloke however you see fit this weekend, and remind him that his service is, and has always been, appreciated by the majority.
It'd be nice to think that this kind of positive atmosphere could really galvanise the team into delivering a proper reaction to last week's dismal showing, but I suppose we'll have to wait and see, as always. Most of us are losing patience with things as they are, many have lost it already, and it never takes much for a crowd to turn. Get the team right, get the mentality right, get the performance right, and hopefully the result should sort itself out.

Am Struggling to show any sort of enthusiasm for this game to be honest. If we weren't in need of 3 points I would probably stop at home and watch on the tele.
I guess I know what sort of performance is coming.

Ever the optimist, I'm hoping that the build up of support for CB will help create a good atmosphere - at least at the start! Also that TP - who ain't a stupid person, whatever he might be - will pick up on the need to send a MUCH more positive feeling out with the team; that team to include The Pilchard AND Sess, and we'll actually turn up, show desire, commitment and a much needed top-drawer performance.
We'll be first game on MOTD, and all the experts will be drooling about Rondon's 7 goal performance.
Merson will attempt suicide, but the bullet will miss and mistakenly take out Collymore, who had gone round to stick pins in Merson's Pulis doll.

Palace have been in horrendous form for a month or so, definitely reason for us to be hopeful, they've got great wingers when they're on form which is an obvious worry but they're Pulis' former club so we just will win.

We've lost 2 less than them, the away goals are the same, and we've got points from 16 out of 26 = 61.52% and Palace have 53.85% - so we have better stats, so should win - though will probably be a draw. Maybe 1-1.

Hopefully Evans will be back for Tuesday but Olsson and McAuley might be more suited to Adebayor and Wickham so it's not a massive worry. Gardner scored against Palace last season so hopefully it'll give him a confidence boost and gee him up to have one of his better games.
