MK Dons at home - Lord Snooty - 18-10-2015 Huddersfield Town v MK Dons
The Sky Bet Championship Tuesday October 20th - 7:45 ko at The John Smith's Stadium ![]() Huddersfield Town welcome MK Dons to the John Smith's Stadium on Tuesday evening for the first home game in what seems like ages, Nottingham Forest on Thursday 24th of September being the last time. It's a very important match for the club as in this is the type of match we have to win, the kind of opponent we can't drop points at home to. Teams that are around us in the table, like MK and Leeds, have to be beaten with the likes of Derby coming here on Saturday. And it looks like we will once more be without the brilliant James Vaughan again after he was shown a red card by cynical cheating down at Ipswich. Jonas Knudsen, remember the name. CHEAT! The Dons come here on the back of a superb 3-0 home win against Blackburn Rovers, their first win in ten games since they beat Bolton back in August. The three goals scored though took them above us on goal difference. So all to play for in terms of staying above Leeds. How much? It's £10 for adults and over 60's and £5 for under 18's. Cracking value for top class Championship action. Please encourage everybody you know to get a ticket and get down to support the boys. A brief history of Milton Keynes Dons: They just stole Wimbledon's! Click here to read the story. A little less brief history of Milton Keynes Dons: So following the move from South London in 2003, the new club became known as the Milton Keynes Dons a year later, the Dons being Wimbledon's nickname, and played in the National Hockey Stadium. They were soon relegated to League 2, but won promotion back the next season. It took them 7 years to get promoted again, after 3 failed play off campaigns in that time, famously one of them losing to us. They eventually won promotion last season, finishing as runners up to Bristol City. Head to head ![]() ![]() Town lead in the overall head to head with 7 wins to the Don's 3, with 4 draws. That's in all competitions. In league matches it's 6 Town wins to MK's 2, with 4 draws. The first time we played each other was in 2004 at home when two Pawel Abbott goals and one from Junior Mendes gave us a 3-1 win. The last meeting was in the 2011/12 season play offs. After a couple of 1-1 draws in the league, we went down to the MK Stadium and walloped them 2-0 with goals from Jordan Rhodes and Jack Hunt. We then went 3-0 up on aggregate when Rhodes scored again early in the 2nd leg. However, Town being Town, we let them back into it with a goal from Daniel Powell making the 2nd half a little uncomfortable. It became squeaky bum time in injury time when Alan Smith bagged another to make it a 2-1 win on the night for the Dons, but we held out for the aggregate win. So what's new at Stadium:mk? They are still managed by Karl Robinson, despite him being linked with every managerial job going. He was appointed in the job in 2010 and at the age of 29 he was the youngest manager in the Football League. He had been assistant to previous boss, Paul Ince, and in his first season in the job he guided them to the Play Offs, where they got beaten by Peterborough and then again the following year when we beat them. Eventually though, he did get them up as runners up, hence giving kudos to the policy of not sacking your manager every year! Previous to coaching, Robinson had been a prolific striker with the likes of Marine, Bamber Bridge and Prescot Cables. ![]() They have three former Town players on their books. Two failure loanees and a legend. Diego Poyet, who we had on loan from West Ham last year is still a Hammer but on loan at MK. Simon Church was on loan with us in 2012 from Reading and having played for Charlton last season signed for the Dons this summer.
The legend in their line up is the penalty shoot out hero, Anthony Kay. Whilst MK Dons were losing that play off to Peterborough, Kay was single handedly beating Bournemouth in our play off semi. He was truly awesome that night, scoring the goal that took the tie to penalties and then scoring the decisive penalty that took us through to the final. a bona fide Town legend, who strangely doesn't have a dedicated lamppost at PPG Canalside.
![]() Recent Form: Town are 17h in the league with 11 points and MK Dons are above us on goal difference, 16th with 11.

RE: MK Dons at home - jjamez - 19-10-2015 i wouldnt say ak47 is a legend! but we signed him after a good season at tranmere where he was playing an advanced role with freedom, we decided to stick him in front of the back four and to ask him to play a different style. when we put him at centre half he wasnt too bad, he was a decent partner for clarke RE: MK Dons at home - theo_luddite - 19-10-2015 I see L666's last win was at Wimbledon North. I also see that the Happy Sacky Chappy has struck again at the Elland Road home for the bewildered and put Steve (I eat all the pies) Evans in charge after 'Appy ' Arry supposedly said nah fanks guv. At least he hasn't done it just before they play us for a change .... hmm 4 games before they play us, he usually gives them about 6 before his trigger finger gets twitchy. Anyway back to our game - they've found a bit of form in the last two games, so they'll probably score against us thus spoiling our clean sheet record run for this season but this is one where we should get the points. RE: MK Dons at home - theo_luddite - 19-10-2015 L666s couldn't be that lucky. Oh yes, just seen it, they can be that lucky. Unless he wins an appeal he's out until next June. RE: MK Dons at home - MNTerrier - 20-10-2015 the U21's had a game today, interestingly enough Billing was not involved at all plus Boyle and Bojaj were subbed at half time you have to imagine that with Vaughan out Bojaj might make the bench RE: MK Dons at home - jjamez - 20-10-2015 i'm under the impression from what powell said in the press conference that bojaj will be on the bench, maybe even thrust into the firing line. notice hogg is injured again, which allows billing on the bench and it also appears that powell wants to give him a crack at some point. what does this say about dempsey? also with us paying wages plus using one of our loan allowance up, when will patterson be given a go? admittedly you have to find a role but scanz hasnt been on it recently, an arm around the shoulder is all well and good and worked for him, but maybe he's too comfortable? but patterson in for scanz means that cranie will be exposed, i dont think pat will track back, much like muzzy on the left, hence why bunn plays and why lolley also misses out when he's here RE: MK Dons at home - ritchiebaby - 20-10-2015 Well done Town. Now we're on the move up the table. <fingerscrossedsmiley> RE: MK Dons at home - Lord Snooty - 21-10-2015 Not very entertaining but who cares? Three points in the bag is all that matters innit. Agree that Whitehead was man of the match but can't believe the stick some so called fans are dishing out to Miller. Did I really hear shouts of You don't know what you're doing at Powell when he took the ineffective Wells off instead of him? Miller was bleedin awesome again tonight. Scared their defence shitless on many occasions, one defender was so shit scared he played the ball straight to Nakki for the first goal. Mistake by their defence yes, but following good work from our big lad. Another player getting pelters now as well is Harry Bunn. Beggars belief, it really does. Anyway, shite to negative Town fans. We're going up. Oh and the referee was appaling. And I don't mean not sending off their player. It was never more than a yellow card offence but compared to what Vaughan did on Saturday he should receive a life ban. You can't have one rule for Town and another for everybody else. RE: MK Dons at home - jjamez - 21-10-2015 One thing i found was scannell getting a lot of abuse. In the the first half he was our best defender! A few year ago he'd have been no where near there, he didn't do too bad. Davidson was another he kopped a bit. I found bunn came too narrow at times and miller ended up wide left but jason was being left two on one at times. Top left backs would struggle there, you have to make a decision and go with it but its always in favor of the attacking side. I feel sorry for wells, he wants to play on the last man and today he was expected to drop deeper, he was defending on the edge of our area, thats the last place we need him, its like whats happened with rooney apart from wells hasnt got rooneys ability. Patterson looked okay when he came on, he looks like the sort to play in the hole, which is where wells was today. Think pato will offer some dynamic to the side if used right. Bojaj should get a few more minutes in the future. Yet to see him shoot but he got his head up and got the assist when he could have gone head down for his own glory. Shows he may have a footballing brain which will also mean he will know where to crop up in and around the area hopefully. Another getting stick was vaughan with people saying he should never play for town again. That in itself is a stupid statement, he made a mistake, how many people have made a mistake? I think we all have and some will have had more serious repercussions, in this case get over it, no harm was done, let him serve the punishment and we move on. A fit and firing vaughan is a certain starter for us, a fully fit vaughan is still one of the best strikers in this league. I know a few everton fans who would have him back if he was fit |
