End Of Season - Arcane Astral Aeons - 18-05-2015

Firstly (and i don`t wish to sound horrible)
but thank god all that Steven Gerrard crap is out of the way
granted the guy was(maybe still is) a great player
but was all that "Final Home Game" rubbish really warranted?

Secondly (and i mean this)
barring a miracle we will finish above the Villa
that "HUGE" club that are nothing more than a one man team
and if that one man had any sense he would be negotiating a move away.
i hate them with a passion

and my final point:

sum up our season?
good
bad
indifferent

your thoughts please

To all fellow baggies
enjoy your summer
Garry

RE: End Of Season - tidy - 18-05-2015

Stevie Gerrards 'farewell' reminded me of the 'send off' Drogba recieved from Chelsea...only to reappear the next season.... Doh

All WAY over the top but having said that, he must be thinking this is a good time to leggit....Liverpool are shite atm. What's the chances of him being seen wearing a Chelsea shirt next year in a Lampard-esque deal with his American Club?

Our season has been shit, once again. You can talk all you want about Pulis but the reality is that we are rubbish and if things don't improve, from top to bottom, pretty quickly then we will just dissapear and join the ranks of the many ex-prem teams in the lower leagues.

Bolton (remember them)
Wigan
Coventry
Cardiff
Portsmouth (?)
Birmingham City
Fulham
Blackburn
Wolves
etc, etc.......

I'm glad that I don't share your negative opinions or I should be anticipating a very miserable close season.

On the playing side, if things don't improve, at the 2015 performance rate we'd still be looking at a top ten finish under TP. However, I think given a few decent player additions, we will improve generally and  won't feature in the relegation betting.

I see absolutely no reason why we should suffer the same fate as the other teams you cite.  Most of those clubs hit problems through either ridiculous transfer outlay, crazy pay deals, no disaster planning for reduced income, mortgaging future income, owner funding withdrawal, owner illegalities and general lack of good management.  Do you see any similarities with WBAFC there?

Peaces end of season "statement". Decent enough, quite emotive. Seems to point heavily towards Peace selling soon. Not much said apart from that, although written well with a good overall assessment.

3-0 v Chelsea Tidy?  Do you dismiss that like Moanio by saying they were not trying  Whistle

RE: End Of Season - Stairs - 18-05-2015

I see a work in progress, progressing and look forward to the summers transfer activities.

RE: End Of Season - WillieJohnstonsGreenhouse - 19-05-2015

After tonight's display TP has some thinking to do.
Why can't we do that every game? Is it asking too much?

He has inherited an average team.
I feared for the 'bus parking' for the foreseeable future but tonight was a masterclass.

He gets the best out of players and there was no hoofball tonight.

I agree with Stairs - it's a massive progress and this summer is the key.
I must admit I also share Tidy's worries but I expected a drubbing tonight and that performance gave me hope and a half. We were awesome.

Bring it on

RE: End Of Season - tidy - 19-05-2015

The OP asked to 'sum up the season' and not just the last few weeks.

For most of the season we have been shite and the many articles and posts on here would back that up.

Whilst the season has finished on a 'high', thankfully, until last Saturday it was fingernail biting, bus parking, other result wishing and finger crossing.

TP came good and fair play to him, but in all honesty, nobody on here thought we would survive after getting beat by Villa, QPR and Lesta with the 'dreaded' run-in we had coming.

This time last year I commented about wanting stability after the Pepe Mel fiasco and what happened? We appointed Alan Irvine and the club along with the fans imploded and we ended up back at square one but this time with 9 players the HC didn't want. Pathetic!

I do not want another shit season like this one where we have to leave it to the death to survive. Perhaps Pulis IS the right guy and if thats the case then I look forward to a good summer in the transfer window and more games like last night, next year. and more importantly, some bloody stability!

Rant over.

Not at all, Stairs. They were trying alright but they didn't allow for Jacob, did they... Big Grin

I'm always happy to be a Baggie, thick and thin, but last night made me feel proud to be a Baggie again.

Don't confuse me questioning some views on here and elsewhere with me not backing the Albion... Sad

That's very interesting....did we play SO differently last night because TP had briefed them differently and almost 'allowed' them to play a more expansive game? Surely it must have been something along these lines; if so, then it makes you (and hopefully  TP) wonder why the same players who have looked so average for months suddenly ALL played up to their full potential.

I really hope that TP has seen what the existing players can do against top class opposition when the shackles are removed. I'm not knocking the rigidity and focus he has instilled into our defensive game, but bloody well rejoicing that, for a change, the midfield and forward sections were allowed to flourish at the same time!!  Thumb up Thumb up
