Hibs v Alloa - 25/04/15 - ritchiebaby - 24-04-2015 Easter Road hosts the most important home game this season for Hibs. 3 more points will take the fight for second spot to the last weekend of the regular season, no matter what the other results bring. There can be no doubt about the importance of this weekend as far as we are concerned. Alloa have proved to be difficult opponents, having taken points off Queen of the South and Rangers in recent weeks. Remember they are fighting for their lives at the foot of the table and we must match their desire. They will be keen to take their Championship survival hopes into their last game against Cowdenbeath and still be within striking distance of them. The Man in the Moon must be the only person who doesn't know that the way to play Hibs is to launch high diagonal balls into the Hibs box, so beware. Alloa have experience in top scorer Liam Buchanan and recent signing Michael Chopra, but I see no reason why Hibs can't get the 3 points. Having said that, we need to show more urgency going forward than we did last night. My team would be:- Oxley, Forster, Hanlon, Fontaine, Stanton, Fyvie, McGeouch, Robertson, Stevenson, Cummings, Dja Djedje. Subs - Handling, Allan (as an insurance policy against lethargy). El Alagui. RE: Hibs v Alloa - 25/04/15 - HerefordBull - 24-04-2015 Agreed it is an important game Ritchie and I hope the cabbage fans turn out in numbers for it.....but I'm not holding my breath. I shall be there again and am dragging 2 others with me to boost numbers.....one isn't into football (so should suit them !! ![]() ![]() I'd have played Cerny in goal and El Aghui up front but otherwise your side looks OK. ![]() GGTTH ps wot no Malonga ![]() RE: Hibs v Alloa - 25/04/15 - ritchiebaby - 24-04-2015 I agree about Cerny, but feel it's far too late to put him in the team now to be ready for the play-off games. I'd have given him at least a couple of games before now. My thinking is to keep players like Allan and El Alagui fresh and give them a wee bit of a rest before the play-off games. I'd possibly give Fyvie, Robertson and Stevenson a week off as well, but not all at once as we probably need at least 3 of the 5 named to keep us competitive. PS - I'd have thought that Malonga would have put a bit of effort into celebrating an excellent goal, but he couldn't even be bothered to do that. Enough said. GGTTH RE: Hibs v Alloa - 25/04/15 - Lord Snooty - 25-04-2015 Why the importance of the 2nd spot? Are these play off matches only one legged jobbies? RE: Hibs v Alloa - 25/04/15 - St Charles Owl - 25-04-2015 I think 3rd play 4th, with the winner playing 2nd place. The winner of that game then plays the 2nd bottom team in the top division, and the winner of that plays in the Prem next season. So 2nd place means one less game to get promoted. Each tie is 2 legs so it means 2 fewer games and obviously if you are not involved till later on it gives your team more rest time. GGTTH RE: Hibs v Alloa - 25/04/15 - hfcbounce - 25-04-2015 On STV SPORT Stubbs got asked if he was playing mind games. Stubbs was asked if he would rather finish 2nd or 3rd he said he's not bothered what will be will be he added the team who wins the 3rd v 4th playoff might carry a advantage with having more moment on their side to play the team whose finishes 2nd interesting comment is rather finish 2nd but hey ho. Stubbs will no better than me Cmon the cabbage GGTTH RE: Hibs v Alloa - 25/04/15 - SUNSHINE ON LEITH - 25-04-2015 Get in brilliant result or the hibs today 4-1 going on 6 or 7 really professional performance FI the lads today. And wi rangers dropping points today it makes next weeks game even more interesting they go to hearts needing a win and we go to Falkirk needing a win but on a positive note we have a ONE POINT advantage so if both teams draw its good enough for us to claim second spot. What interests me now is how many tickets HFC will ask Falkirk for they can't get a playoff spot so it would be good business for them to fill the ground out with as many Hibs fans as they can and make a few quid out of the game. Plus it would be good for HFC to have thousands of fans there to cheer them on. GGTTH RE: Hibs v Alloa - 25/04/15 - St Charles Owl - 25-04-2015 Great result and nice little helping hand from Falkirk as well!!! All up to you guys now, no help required!! RE: Hibs v Alloa - 25/04/15 - HerefordBull - 25-04-2015 Result is all that matters. We never had to get out of second gear and could have scored a few more. ![]() Worrying things: 1) crosses into the box is still difficult for us.....they managed one just swinging away from the 6 yd line ..........and scored! ![]() 2) crowd disappointing in both numbers and atmosphere....very lethargic and one has to wonder how much the effect of the last few years has had on cabbage support. Today was very important and if we had been put under more pressure and needed a lift I'm not sure the crowd would have helped. ![]() Still onto Falkirk next week where I hope we sell out our section.
